My experience of 'Ryley' * was that he is a sad obsessive rude little man.

* many people at sky are referred to by their surname or, in the case of sports, by adding 'y' to their christian name.
This appears to be a popular way to imply a connection with said person whilst still keeping your distance.

Also, what is the point of having the 'Active - press red for top stories' strap on screen at the top of the hour while they're actually covering the top stories on their main output? Bizarre...
I think I heard the idea came from John Ryley, much to the chagrin of most of the staff. And, with him now in charge...

Indeed. I hear he's very keen on channel "branding"... and some complain of Dogs...

I think Sky's Active banner is better described as a Bitch than a Dog Wink

It is extremely annoying, especially considering they have the Active button indicator on the ticker and sometimes in the top corner of the screen. How dumbe do they think people are. Aside from the fact that Active has been around since digital launch hasn't it, so if people aren't aware that the red button gives extra options in the 7 or 8 years it's been round then they never will be.

I do take issue with its appearance at every opportunity. We are bombarded with plugs for the interactive service every 10 minutes, the massive on-screen dog (namely at weekends), the dog on the ticker and the text based reminder also on the ticker.

You certainly would have to be 'dumb' to miss it.

I do think Sky should just scrap that bloody banner and face the fact that if people don't look at Sky News Active, fine they don't. The plugs for it do enough, we don't need a massive on screen reminder!

Well, it seems that the change to Sky News Today (am and pm) wasn't a stint and that the 3-headed style has been ditched. Wonder why that is?

I wish they would return to the 3 presenters style, it was better and more alive. Now it's like weekends.

The weekends are very watchable though, and seem more relaxed yet professional. The 3 presenter style just hasn't worked.

And I disagree with you. The weekends plod along with not very much happening, the channel becomes monotonous. The 3 presenter schedule HAS worked - particularly SNT AM, which is a fantastic show. But hey, that's just my opinion.
