Should be white on red!

I'd agree myself but according to research (from god knows where) White is apparently the most attention drawing colour. I even beleive there was plans for Fire Engines in become white, but that was haulted following public dislike.

It’s laughable style over substance.
£40m squandered on a shiny set (which is beautiful), camera swoops, News24 rip-off captions, and a new ‘informal’ feel with that three's-a-crowd presenter that’s so awkward you physically cringe.
8 presentation areas, and not one of them journalistically relevant or offering any authority. Where is the advance to bring Sky News ahead of its rivals?
Did it overtake CNN? BBC World?
Sky News has always been a loss-leader, always burnt tens of millions every year. But this re-launch was prompted by Murdoch junior. Mr P being hauled into the office and asked what big idea he has for the autumn?
This is the result. Utter nonsense and I expect heads (I’m sorry Nick, but you’ll be the first) will roll within a month.
£40m,for the sake of 80,000 viewers! (And that's on a bloody good day)
It’s disgusting.

Well I have to say, congratulations to all involved, an absolutely superb job. Most of all, I love the music, it sounds fantastic!

A couple of niggling points though... they bring up a story strap, but then when a name strap appears above it, the red line swipes across the story name again, yet doesn't change. Doesn't really look right although I think they'll change this.

Weather is a bit disappointing - it's as if they've looked at BBC Weather and thought "let's do that, but better", although it's not as good as before I don't think. I think a widescreen version of the old one would have been better.

Loving the presenters so far, every single one has been excellent, Eamonn in particular. I can't believe some people doubted his abilities! He has made an excellent job this morning and I shall definitely be tuning in tomorrow.

Hate the animation wipe effect on the straps, it's incredibly irritating. I think the Sky News DOG and clock should be top left. I still don't understand Sky's insistence on 14L12 commercials on 16F16 channels.

Apparently it is so that they only have to cache one copy of the commercial. If they showed 16F16 ads on their 16:9 channels they'd either have to store two copies (requiring more storage and more time to load) or they'd have to put ARCs into all the 4:3 channel transmission areas. At the moment they aren't prepared to do either, hence adverts and promos are 4:3 on all Sky 16:9 channels.

I notice, on Freeview, that the switching between 4:3 and 16:9 is far from slick.

Yes as far as I can tell, they seem to put the name and title on the top and the story name underneith for some reason. But thats how they've all been this morning.
