Was rather surprised to see Charlie Stayt on Sky News Today on Friday. When did he go back to Sky? Or has he never really left?

I was quite suprised to see him back...but was even more suprised after seeing him the previous night from 9-12 on Sky News Tonight. Must of been wrecked

I think Steve Gaisford is the best thing about SKY these days. He should be the main anchor on Sunrise instead of the waste of space that is Eamon.

I couldn't agree more about both people.

As for the comments about who happens to be presenting on any given day at any time .. who cares ? It's a factual channel where personalities are not important.
I know there was / is all the hype about 'Appointment to view' but that was always going to be related to certain time slots, not specific presenters. Yes the promos give the impression that certain names will be 'key' to certain slots but that was and always will be misleading promotion.

I wonder what sky's Budget coverage is going to be like this year?

Presumably similar to any other ?
Probably some studio input from Millbank along with the usual speculation of what may, and may not, be announced by the chancellor. Then of course further guestimation using animated graphics to show what it may, or may not, mean to an 'average' viewer.

I suppose that was a pilot for coverage to appeal to the working class.
Very Happy

Yesterday's Live at Five (Martin Popplewell and Juliette Foster) was great, especially the slot they did at 30 past the hour on the history of the perm (now 100 years old, apparently).

What followed was some real hearty laughter from everyone around the news desk when they showed some clips of Popplewell and Foster artworked or photo-shopped with imaginary perms, and some REAL shots of Allan King from the 80's, with a real perm. Hilarious.

If you think he looks bad now...........................

But he (Popplewell) is without any shadow of a doubt the new Michael Nicholson.

Yesterday on Live at Five, he almost said something like "the former president of Iraq has been speaking exclusively to us here at the BB....er, Sky News......!" He thought he was at the BBC!!

Also, when he did Sunrise or SNT AM one day last week (can't remember which programme it was), he handed over to "our correspondent at Westminster, Penny Jercival, er....sorry, Jenny Percival.....")

Don't get me wrong, I love him!! I used to love Michael Nicholson too, for that matter...............
