It did my head in the other night too, so I decided to send a rather simple, yet straight to the point email to the News Centre but to no avail. So much for reading 'all your comments'!

Yes, a lower third aston is going to be the downfall of a news operation, isn't it.

Seriously, it's annoying and backtracks on what Sky said about less screen furniture on the screen when they relaunched back in October.

I'm told that it's the Executive Editor's idea to keep it on all weekend after the Glitter thing on Friday - but people around the News Centre think it's a bit silly too.

Case of rank over sensilbilty then.

Really, it is disgustingly annoying.

Just reading the BBC News online blog at the Oscars.

Interesting reading about the lack of Sky News presence:

One little thing to note is the lack of a strong Sky News presence this year. The word is they left it very late to apply for accreditation and Sky One took almost all their places. Shame!

Even planning is going down the pan at the new look Sky news! Rolling Eyes

Matt Smith is covering the Oscars for Sky News, just like he did last year.

I saw Grainne for the first time this morning. I'm sorry but she is bloody awful. Missing cues, reading Steve's autocue and also talking over him. She didn't appear to be able to efectively ad-lib during the live link to the Vanity Fair party.

Don't forget that much of those errors may be due to vague directing.

Talking of which, I've been watching since 3.00 pm and nobody seems to have a clue what they're doing.
