Thanks Luke for at least one friendly voice in the wilderness !

Seriously guys, I genuinely am not trying to mock or ridcule you, but please educate me as to what fascinates you so much about a repetitious rolling news channel ?
And why bother posting comments such as 'I see the ticker is off' or 'I see the ticker is back on again' ....
???
Who cares about such tiny things ?
I'm just very curious here.

maybe because many of us consider ourselves fans of the channel? is that so strange? Rolling Eyes

also, why the need to disguise your smart arse insults in 'seriously i'm interested' guises?

and while we're on the subject, did anyone else notice the way the ticker faded out as well as disappear this morning? Razz

You're placing assumptions on my interest;
why be so defensive?
It's fine and healthy to be a fan, but surely there is a line where it becomes obsession.

If you don't want to discuss it, I don't mind.

This is TV Forum, obsession is our passion.
We watch TV, mainly looking at the presentational aspect of the channels, and criticise. We post little skits like 'The News Walls Broken', because we think that it's important, and think that others will want to know.

It may be obsessive to some, but its what the majority of people on here like to do.

I hope thats answered your questions, if not, simply reply and I'll try and answer some more. And I hope you enjoy your time here on the forum.

thanks fanoftv for your mature reply.
I would suggest that such obsessive interest in such detail is not healthy, but I appreciate we all have different perspectives.

Well, of course, as long as it's not harming anyone then who cares really? Yeah we're all a bit geeky for having an interest in presentation (some having a lot more of an interest than others), but hey.

I'm only speaking for myself here but I'm sure it applies to almost everyone else - it's not as if it rules my life. I don't bore my mates about it in the pub, and to be honest I give it little thought when I'm not watching TV or reading this website.

It's an interest, that's all. TV presentation obviously is important, otherwise the news would be presented by someone with a black screen behind them and nothing else. It's the reasons behind changes that I and others find interesting, not the actual changes themselves more often than not.

Very well put Phil. I appreciate some people might find such an interest in TV presentation slightly odd, but surely not as odd as registering for and posting on TV pres internet forum when you aren't interested in the subject matter?

A well made point, fernando, but I would counter that by saying it's far healthier than drinking yourself sick once or twice a week., and end up behind bars for something you can't even remember.

I am enjoying the new Sky Report with Anna Botting. She makes a very refreshing change.

I have never understood everyone's obsession with JT.

Our obsession is obviously your obsession, my friend.

I agree with most views in this thread; Sky News is indeed increasingly sensationalist and tabloid year on year. It's obviously where the mangement want to 'position' it.

What makes me laugh and wonder, is a forum called TV Forum where they analyse (sp?) Sky News and report on tiny little changes ...
'Ticker has gone off screen' ...
'Ticker has returned to screen' ...

I mean, come on ! I've challenged them to explain their fascination at such detail but predictably nobody has warmed to my request lol

Thread here, if anyone cares

It is strange what gets under people's skin, hmm?

lol somebody is obsessed with finding out why other people are obsessed with something.

First time I've looked here for a day or so;
no, not obsessed, just curious. Anyway, fanoftv's reply kind of resolved my curiosity.
I've been registered here for a long time but hardly ever look in; I was just browsing recently and thought I would look if people were still discussing as they used to.

You guys obviously have a deep interest in tv presentation, and I assume many of you want to work in it, so good luck with any efforts you may be making in that area.
I am trying very hard to get out of tv and media for various reasons, but I have worked a lot at sky news. Not since the relaunch though.
