I noticed that; I wonder where/how it will pop up now...

Martin looks like a blob of dough with glasses and gets overexcited about standing in front of a block of screens on a red carpet.

But hey, most of you here would probably get on well with him whilst discussing that the ticker has moved 2 pixels to the left or something ....

Hey - he's not that bad.....

I think he's one of their best presenters Cool

well, personal opinion and all that ...

I notice that most of you here have a very different perspective on tv to me, which is why i don't post here very often.

I do wonder. without meaning to be rude at all, why so many of you have such a fascination with sky news and often tiny details at that.

I have always been a fan of Martin Stanford! Leave him alone!

Notice ticker changes? No active thing on the far left. Looks really plain.

They need to completly overhaul their ticker , on some screens it looks ok, on others really awful.

The active thing is back now....

"This is Live at Five, with Jeremy Thompson; Presenter of the year!"

I like it!

This added to Jeremy's TOTH intro, and 'Presenter of the year' was shown on the front of the desk.

There are many other sky news presenters I also don't rate or like, such as Martin Stanford, Jeremy Thompson, Chris Roberts or Eamon Holmes.
Why? Well, they come over as over-hyping the news or adding unecessary gravitasse; too happy to fuel the media circus which feeds their bank accounts.

Oh no no no. We're not having this. I'll let you have that about the excitability of JT or Eamonn Holmes. But not Martin Stanford. On your latter post - looks like a blob with glasses? This affects his journalistic credibility? And when does he get "overexcited"? Watch Saturday Live - not overexcited, just human.

The ITV News channel did a similar thing when Alistair Stewart recieved the award last year. I doubt it will last the year on Live at 5 though.

1. Blob of dough with glasses? Well, considering he doesn't want to wear contacts, and works for Sky News, how else do you think he can read the autocue? Moron.
2. Your second point was a cheap shot at us because you've lost your argument against Mr. Stanford and had no ammo left. Try another more original one.
3. Why did you resort to the blob of dough argument in the first place? Surely if you're going to make a reasonable point at least make sure it's not about appearances. I do like Mr. Stanford and think he's a very fine presenter.

Yes, I admit that the 'blob of dough' comment was unecessary, although I do personally think he looks like that.
I just don't like his on-air technique, which I find 'trying to be american' and sometimes smug.
I don't doubt his journalistic knowledge or ability to hold a programme together, or that of many of the other presenters.

I have no interest in finding 'ammo' against what seems to be a rather anoraky sky news enthusiasts club here. My only real interest is in finding out why so many of you have this almost obsessive interest and fascination for it.

i have to say that that is exactly how I see him as well. His style is reminiscent of somebody off Fox at times.
