In regards to Eamonn I think its hardly surprising, GMTV is hardly a training ground for dealing with breaking news but you would have thought that he would have been able to do it, after all he does and has worked in television for a long time now, and all it really involves is either reading off the version of the television screen above the cameras or reading off the screen of your tablet/PC.

Eamonn is a lot better covering for Philip Schofield on This Morning, this shows how much out of depth he is on Sunrise.

I recently, for the first time saw Sunrise since the relaunch and what a pleasant surprise it was to see Eamonn, what can only be best descriped as woodling across the Sky News Centre. Certainly made my morning.

Yep Eamonn "Mr Porky" gets a good workout during Sunrise, he looks out of breath when he presents the first item. Laughing

Anyway, after watching SN for a few days now I have to agree

Now "Live at Five" what mess that is.....having Martin there this past couple of weeks has proved to me that it's not the presenters, but the programme format - it's just wrong.

I think its become more watchable now Martin's doing Live at 5.
I do find it tiresome to watch Jeremy Thompson do two-ways interviews. It's just so painful, almost as if he's never done one before, every single time they come up.

Do the globe graphics they use nowadays actually have any location from this planet actually on them??

I can't for the life of me figure it out!

You know you really opened my eyes!!

I have an image posted here before the relaunch of the globe whcih I sometimes incorperate into my mocks and it doesnt seem to be of anywhere...just clouds sea mountains and occasionl land

But i suppose would people really pay attention to such minor details as "o look there is china" or something? I doubt it

But why not use the real earth? Sorry but you've started me off about this again! Why would they decide to create the earth but not use a real earth image? Is it because they're so zoomed in to the point where you can hardly see the curve of the globe, that there just isn't an image with a high enough resolution of the earth available?

Or a theory could be that the earth didn't look right - again because they're quite close-up to the earth and there is a lot of sea and a lot of land in a real earth image. As it moves quite slowly it might be that it looked better to have random pieces of land instead of a minute or two of just sea... then land... then sea...

Personally if the latter was the problem I just wouldn't use a close-up of the earth in the first place. They've gone to the trouble of making it quite detailed, the shadows of the clouds make it looks quite realistic - yet its not earth!

That's not really the point though. The old globe (2001 relaunch) was adapted well when it came to the War in Iraq in 2003, when they had the special "The Day Today" style TOTH War sequence, the globe zoomed into Iraq at the end.

[EDIT] Even the last globe was "real" and allowed for a different title sequence for Sky News Ireland [/EDIT]

This just isn't possible with the "nowhere in particular" globe.

It'll be interesting to see what graphics they create if/when we go to war with Iran.

Like all new anchors on major news programmes, it takes a while for many to settle into their roles. I agreed with you in the past Greg - I hated (rather, disliked) Ginny's style of presentation and she always looked lost. But lately.............she has shown signs of starting to settle in. I think what she actually needs is a couple of lengthy solo overnight shifts, sat at the newsdesk without two props, and given the chance to anchor rolling and breaking news, without the support from co anchors. She will surely be ok in the future. I think she will be.

From this picture I think that it's quite obvious that it is a fake earth:

That's not the one they use though. But I am pretty sure that the one they DO use is fake.

Shame really.

I kind of agree, but for now she should be taken off SNT , and put on overnights or something where she can learn how to handle it all her self. Come'on put Julie back on SNT where she belongs. However I do like Julies show Laughing

Out of the high profile relaunch presenters who joined last year, Ginny is the best of the lot.

Sky News has been better the last couple of weeks since Anna J, Anna B and Gillian have taken time off.
