Could someone explain to me how the overnight shifts work. I always assumed there was one but I noticed thAT Grainne ( the irish one) was one at midnight and then some bloke came on at four ( or around that time)....was this the famed Gordon Radley. If so sky news should sack him, he is awful

Yeah, I think the first time was in the Soham trial, but they've been doing it a few times since, so I'm not sure why Kay kept saying it was the first time it's been used.

And while it's slowish for it to appear on screen, having someone in the court typing away has helped Sky get the verdicts faster (by a matter of seconds!) than other channels since they started doing it.

I think Kay said it's the first time the verdict had been played out on TV in that fashion. IIRC Rachel Amatt was outside the courts breaking the news about the verdict of Ian Huntly in 2003, Although they did run transcripts of the court proceedings.

Is it Skys own stenographer providing the transcript or the court one? Normaly is it just a reporter/producer in court running out and phoning through the verdict after its read?

It's Sky's own stenographer that is providing the transcripts.

Sky News Today AM seems to be changing anchoring teams completely from day to day.

Yesterday it was Allan King, Juliette Foster and Helen Fospero.

Today it is Grainne Someone, Martin Popplewell and Emma Crosby!!

Retaining just one face for continuity would be a good idea. That said, Grainne Someone (sorry, but just can't remember the surname) is extremely good and well suited to the programme. I like it.

Yesterday afternoon, caught a glimpse of Ginny Buckley after some time. She seems to be settling into the role.
