Grainne on overnights, probably Ireland's most popular anchor and she's stuck on overnights while the likes of Gillian Joseph and Anna Jones are still terrorising the daytime and evening audience.

Thats a very good point...but Sky see that Anna and Gillian have quite a bit more experience is a newsier enviorment. I would never brand TV3 or TG4 much of a newsy enviorment. Like when did TV3 break a huge headline? Mabey when someone else did but not by themselves. Gillan worked on Breakfast and BBC London (mabey not of dealed with breaking news, but did work in a higher seen position than anchor of small TV3). Anna worked on News24, enough said
Grainne needed SNI to be a steping stone. You never know, it would be great if she was Julie's replacement when she goes on materinty leave. Thats my opinion anyway
Sky News Today wouild be good for her too, but overnights arent right!
I am a fan of GS. I would rate her above Anna and Gillian. It would also be nice to have a Welsh or Scots presenter on SKY News.
I agree. In fact I feel that sky doesnt cover wales and scotland very well.
It would be interesting to see how a news service for those areas would actually work, seeing as more people probley watch SN in wales and scotland compared to Ireland
yeah a welsh or scottish accent would be cool on Sky. J/w is there any there now?
It's just a few overnights to get her used to the set-up. She has NEVER worked in an environment like that. All of her previous experience is in tiny little set-ups.
By next week Grainne will feature in Sky News Today (9am-12pm strand) and the week after the Irish take over as Sunrise will be presented by Eamon Holmes and G.S.
But then it's back to her little room in Dublin for Grainne. The aim is to giver her a chance on Sky News, and they hope it will lift the profile of the Irish bulletins.

I assume you'd be an inside (then dont go )
Thats great info, thanks for that. I really cant wait to see more of her on SN. Great talent there

The Evening Hearld confirm as much this evening, They seem to see the future for her over in London, though who they would get to replace her on SNI is anyone's guess.
The alternative presenters on SNI are pretty much awful to be honest. Ray and Brian dont make me want to keep the channel on. I think that mabey Grainne could do a Mark Austin and and do two broadcasts?
Perhaps she was to take over on a daytime slot, she would present Sky News Ireland from London (in a differnt area of the news center or in a differnt studio) and dual presenting from Dublin with Ray or Brian there? But then would Sky want to invest so much effort/money/time into such a thing? I would think not
Sky News get a few nominations in the RTS awards...
