As an aside, do Sky News use camera operators (since we know that News 24 do not)? Or was this just a floor manager doing some rapid camera moving?

The guy waving is a Floor Manager.

The cameras are remotely controlled. The operator sits next to the Floor Manager next to the big blue globe thingy.
I do think they've boom camera operators.

Is the boom camera the "cranes" Cosi've seena sports story on Sky News the other day that was on the top floor and to the left u could see down to the studio and Kay was on and you could see a guy moving the crane camera around.

Yes, most of the cameras at Sky News are remotely controlled - but controlled by a camera operator nonetheless. There are two Jimmy-Jib crane cameras which are manually operated by a jib operator.

Re: Relaunch - of course they were going to review it after a few months - don't mean anything will change though!

How about a small change to the weekdays

And a bigger one for the
Weekends

Well, why would they axe on of their best known brands in Live at Five?

Also, the weekend schedule you suggested is awful - it's bad enough BBC News 24 have filler programmes on the half hour without Sky doing it as well.

Anyone catch the John Suchet interview on Sunrise this morning, with him promoting him joining the Five News team?

Didn't catch it all - but from what I saw, he came across as a really genuine, warm person. Is this the first time Five News has been promoted during a Sky News programme?

Sky News had Kelly Holmes and Ms Dynamite as guest editors?? I must have missed that! And they say that ITV News is dumbed down! Rolling Eyes

Oh OK. Same difference though. I can understand 'guest' editors who have some idea about journalism (Alastair Campbell would have been interesting) but an ex-athlete and a pop singer??? I bet the day-to-day editors at Five News feel really valued when they get people like that in to do their job!

They are cultural figures, and the idea was to see how the newsmakers would prioritise the news stories.

I thought it was a good idea, spiced things up a bit!
if that is dumbing down then fair play!

Does Ruth Kelly's statement really warrant having Martin Stanford anchoring from College Green?

The way that this-so called "row" has been ratcheted up by the TV and press really irritates me. Yesterday Sky were running a package with absurd close-up slow-motion footage of Ruth Kelly, talking about how she'd never been under such pressure before. Yes, but pressure from who? The Sky crew doorstepping her!
