I really like the way Sky used to finish News at Ten with a montage of pictures from the days stories. They should reintroduce it, and make News at Ten stand out as a bulletin to match the BBC and ITV. They should also bring back a News at Ten ident, and also possibly have 2 different presenters presenting it...Jeremy and Anna???
I've noticed that Sky World News show "some of the images from today's news" to a music bed, near the end of the hour - although I suspect the only reason they do it is because a non-UK feed has opted out to show adverts.

I seem to remember it being a fairly common occurrence at the end of Sunrise around 10 years ago, played out with various bits of the Sky branding music - the one that cycled between different channels' themes. I guess they got faster at changing crews over...

Sky Ireland must have a ratings death wish for the 18:30 time slot. Having already taken the rather stupid decision to run Sky News Ireland up against both RTÉ News: Six One and TV3 News at 6:30, they're going to put it on Sky One Ireland as well?!?! All this will do is cut Sky One Ireland's ratings for that time slot, because the audience for Malcom in the Middle do not in general watch much in the way of Sky News!

Any person with access to Sky One Ireland most likely has Sky News Ireland also (in fact, because Sky News Ireland is FTA on satellite, it potentially has a larger audience than Sky One Ireland does).

There is a solution Sky, believe it or not...put Sky News Ireland back to 7pm.

The ticker caused the picture to break up during CBS News a few minutes ago so Sky turned off all graphics, they now just have the blue bar at the bottom of the screen and the normal Sky News logo without the time or the ticker. Is the international feed? I wonder what will happen when they go to ads.

I'm sure that would of been International Feed, or may be a back up.

It was good to see Chris Roberts and Anna Botting presenting together again last night, from the desk. As opposed to standing at the Starbucks tables!

But, I have to say Miss Botting - I was totally disappointed at one of your ad libbed remarks last night, where you clearly were having a totally blond moment. You were talking over some live feed from an airport in the USA where a Frontier Airlines Airbus A318 was preparing for an emergency landing. You said:

" These are live pictures from (wherever it was)........where a plane is just about to make an emergency landing. We will bring that to you live, here on Sky. The aircraft's cargo door has opened during flight - but we don't know what that means!" Duh Shocked

Take a lucky guess???? Welcome back to PrimeTime, Anna. Great to see ya!

(By the way, we got the ticker here on International last night......)

Why is it that you always talk about newsreaders as if they are your best mates?

I thought you people usually congregated over in the BBC World thread. It is distressing to see you have branched out on to other parts of the forum.

It's bloody weird.

What????? What is weird about visiting, reading, contributing and enjoying more than one thread? Is there a law against it? If there is anything that is weird here matey, it's you.

Now, that's my last word on the subject, and I don't want to get into a juvenile argument. I post in my style. You post in your style. Let's just leave it at that, before the Mods start to trample all over us on account of schoolboy remarks.

Back to TV presentation related topics, anyone..........

I'm sorry, but the moderators will tell me when the subject matter is inappropriate, not you. And most of the time they aren't even worth listening to around here anyway.

I just find it extremely odd that your posts contain direct comments to newsreaders, as if they are actually reading what you're saying. They don't know you, you don't know them... if you want to write something to them personally, why not write them a letter? There's no need for you to use this place as some sort of personal correspondence service, with comments like 'you were great on the 4pm shift on Tuesday' and 'good to see you back'.

You're an idiot.

It's a business decision. Before you start denouncing things as 'stupid decisions', try thinking about why they're doing it.

Sky are spending a fortune on making a tailored news for Ireland, and they want the most people possible to see it.

I have noticed today that they seemed to have removed the 'swishy thing' on the top of the ticker, they also seem to use that red line animation less.

It looks ok, but I prefer the swishy thing
