I still think the glass box, on the whole, looks really good. It’s the horrible garish colours and design of the graphics that makes it look odd. Some neat modern-looking straps and a more up-to-date music would make a huge difference.

I think you are probably right, the boring old graphics and straps really do clash with the box and it doesn’t match at all! Maybe things will be better once there’s been a graphics refresh... I have to say though, I think they need a complete overhaul, not just a carbon copy of Sky Sports News. Just changing the text to lower case won’t wash either! They need a new lower thirds and preferably a new logo! The current one just doesn’t work.

There have been some promising changes and I am warming to the box (something I never thought I’d say) but I just want them to be more imaginative with it and sack the beige brigade

Those sofas, or rather the people sat on them, are not going to look good on TV. TV sofa's aren't comfortable to sit on, they force you to sit up properly and stop you from slouching, they're higher than many normal sofas too, so your knees aren't raised above your waist. Just grabbing a random couch and using it on screen is the folly of several of the local TV channels.

That color and fabric would look horrible as well.

We just had a very nice into break outside shot of the glass box despite the following news at six sting. Also the few screens above the corridor now display the news hour programme image.

Not sure the schedule on a Friday is working truth be told.

Today's segment with Sarah Hewson felt like a completely different show to Monday to Thursday with Kay Burley, maybe that's the intention as Sarah's not best suited to that kind of show as Kay, but honestly felt that that they'd be better off using another presenter and keeping the style the same on a Friday and using Sarah elsewhere?

The News Hour Graphics are not using any equipment that wasn't already there, it's the same screens that show Big Ben for example when News at Ten is on.

Or search Giniko. It's great, free, and there's some English channels like BBC world or sky news. You have a 5 day auto she online so you can go back to any point in the last 5 days

Haven't seen week i n Interviews before, clearly it's a filler, but what is noticeable is that there has been quite a lot of creativity with the graphics which are a completely different style and more modern feel to everything else which is pleasing.

It's a really nice colour red and blue and it just shows that it's possible to have some something other than white and still look modern and up to date, despite Sky's religious sticking to boring white.

Some very nice transitions too.

The last election and this program show that Sky can still do excellent graphics when they want to.

Do we think that this could be a trial of these graphics before a full rollout?

For me, Sky News was at its best just before the 2005 relaunch.

You could tune in almost any time of day and know exactly what to expect - a 'full service' double-headed news programme with lots of live reporters and interviews.

And the pre-2005 Sky News Today format with Martin and Julie was simply excellent - pacy, energetic and not at all dumbed down.

I remember saying this at the time - it felt like by the time they'd moved to the big new studio, there wasn't really enough money left for newsgathering - as a result, there were fewer stories per hour and it all felt a bit less pacey.

(With apologies for replying to a week-old post about ancient history)

No, they're not suitable for general graphics, I was just illustrating that there is still some creativity left!
