11am on the other hand perhaps. Considering every show needs someone cooking something in it now maybe they can read the news in between preparing dinner now.

Good to see individual show brands returning (once again I said they would and was shot down on here when I raised it some time ago). Do we know the real reason for the u-turn?

But we're now in a kind of bizarre situation which I don't think we've seen between Sky News and the BBC News channel for a long time (if ever).

Lunchtime Live on Sky News from 11-1 (reusing the old 2005 Burley slot name before it became Afternoon Live) against 'BBC Newsroom Live'. Then The Kay Burley Show opposite Afternoon Live with Simon McCoy. Then at 5, The 5 o'clock news hour with Mark Austin vs the BBC News at 5 with Huw Edwards.

If all that's changing on Monday is just names and no tweaks to the presentation, its just papering over the cracks i'm afraid.

Sky News urgently needs some love in terms of presentation, it is pretty awful at the moment. At least when the channel first moved into the glass box there were a range of shots used. Now its just a desk in front of a screen and well, thats it.

I'd love Sky News (or one of the UK news channels) to make a leap into a Franceinfo style of presentation, but I don't think any of them would do so.

Any channel that would go down the Franceinfo route would be fantastic, but it may be too French for an Anglophone channel.

Well, television presentation evolves over the years.

Its funny how a number of presentation changes I kept suggesting/harking on about on here in circa 2008/2010 regarding BBC News (and were continually shot down when even raised) were eventually implemented on the BBC News channel from 2013 onwards. And you know what, they've improved the feel of the channel for the better. A mix of standing and desk based presentation, use of VR and touchscreens etc.

My fondest memory was Newswatch picking up a tweet I wrote in 2009 suggesting the News channel presenters should stand at the top of the hour to bring the channel in line with the national bulletins. It was laughed off by people on here (and one or two who post on here from the Beeb). Fast forward to 2014/2015 and the solo standing TOTH presentation appeared on the News channel and an insider on here said something along the lines of it being done to compliment the nationals!

Maybe I was just ahead of the times? But i'll say again what i've said on here since I joined the forum, news channels must always innovate and look to bring along younger viewers who will be loyal to the channels for years to come. Finding new ways of showcasing great journalism and content is key in any broadcast medium, as i've found in radio (particularly production) myself. Especially when you're competing with the internet and social media.

It’s interesting in a way that The Kay Burley Show is being billed as Monday-Thursday, when on Friday it’ll air in the same slot and format but with a different presenter. I’m not sure how else they could advertise it if Sarah or Gamal is hosting Friday’s without using Kay’s name, Friday Live? It could of being tagged in the end of that promo with a very brief mention. However to be fair, I’m surprised in one sense it hasn’t been advertised as Weekdays even though Kay won’t host Fridays in a similar vain to Lorraine/Derbyshire etc. (just to upset TVForum if nothing else!) I wonder if it’ll be ‘The Kay Burley Show’ when Kay is off. Also, no promo for Lunchtime Live with Colin & Jayne?

As you can see in the Sky Guide it is just branded as ''Sky News'' and will probably become the generic Skynews background used until now during Burley´s slot.

Anyone 2 hours ahead of us, watching on the international feed....

Yeah I see that, I’m just saying since Friday’s currently take the same format and presentation style as Monday-Thursday, and I’m guessing it’ll continue that way, I wonder why they haven’t bothered tying Friday to the brand. I know Kay’s not presenting and she’s the focus of that slot, but even without Kay that slot still has a different feel to it.

Lunchtime Live so far has been exactly the same as the previous 1100-1500 (granted, today it has been 12-14) slot. There is no change in presentation, content, timings or on-screen graphics. The programme's name is not referred to on-screen. There is no indication on-air that there will be sweeping changes coming up this afternoon, unlike previous 'teases' seen in other refreshes. Safe to say this is 'minor tweaking' not 'refreshing'.

Well, the 3pm TOTH was a complete fudge.
