The camera also decided to move down for some reason during Sunrise, as always Stephen showed a reaction whilst Gillian carried on like nothing had happened.
Yesterday Jayne Secker was name strapped as Gemma Evans. I don't think Gemma has ever presented anything but Swipe.
The 3pm slot just feels so much more alive than the rest of the days output. quick paced moving from one story to another
Another absolute mess after the 9.30 weather. Went to a Sky News slide for a little while then to Stephen and Gillian who were relaxing as they thought they'd gone to a break. They started talking then the weather sponsor played out and went to a break. Absolute mess.
The half hour that followed felt a bit padded too (though there was no obvious technical issue apart from that error you mentioned) - almost as if an item had been dropped. Stephen and Gillian seemed to chat a lot more about tweets coming in than they usually do and apart from sport and covering the Owen Smith interview from earlier there wasn't a huge amount of other stuff covered.
That said I still found it better than the weekday Sunrise back halfhours - I've never been a fan of the Sunrise paper reviews. I've not convinced viewers want to spend whatever time they do have in the morning hearing for example Kevin Adams's take on the newspapers and it puts Sunrise at a disadvantage to the other breakfast shows on at that time.
I don't have a problem with the evening reviews to be clear - they often have some good reviewers on those (though some are better than others) and it's much more in-depth than the morning editions, lively and a pretty easy watch.
The morning ones though just feel like filler and as if the time could be used so much better.
Anybody know why during the 4am hour Sky News has a one off link to Business Day TV? It just seems odd and doens’t fit in with the rest of the content shown during the World News hour, It’s not repeated throughout the night and is only 2 or 3 mins long so not exactly an in depth look at the South African business markets.
Is it part of some sort of licensing agreement to be South Africa or a contact that’s been in place for years?
Due to the boxing-related event at Sky Central, all daytime output is coming from the Westminster studio today.
Watching some of Kay's shift definitely brings back happy memories of the old studio.
and much betterfor it for me, if they ‘whitened’ the Westminster studio a little with the new style desks, it could be a perfect mix of new and old style Sky News.

Indeed, for the daytime output that would work. However, from 21:00 the less-harsh lighting is much more appropriate. The brightness of the glass box when it was first introduced during the Press Previews was frowned upon by many; thankfully, they've now altered it so there's now a much warmer feeling to the late shift.
