Lighthackers reposted an old tweet from Angela Barnes ages ago about Swipe in the old studio which is probably where this came from.

Last photo I saw of the old studio they were removing equipment, all the blue and red and set lighting was turned off and the only lighting that was on was white.

Where is this?

Yes. Sadly the old studio looked quite desolate and aged in the most recent images and footage I saw. However, it served Sky News well and will be fondly remembered by us pres geeks and industry professionals in equal measure.

I had forgotten about the old balcony position until seeing a recent montage. Who remembers the famous Crosby and Gaisford Custard Creams-gate incident up there on the balcony?

I am possibly one of the very few on here who loved that era of Sky News. Triple headed presentation was so unique at the time, albeit short lived. I liked that look a lot.

Alas, the economics of business will never be far away......

Perhaps the image in question came from Jason Farrell's tweet earlier in January?

Also, had a thought about studio 6, I wonder if the video walls in the studio are the same from their 'Battle for number 10' and 'EU: In or out' coverage?

That would actually be a very good studio

I loved that era too - everything looked so fresh and futuristic. I did say this a few pages back, but I do strongly believe that that whole look would have been received much more warmly if it had been introduced this decade. I'd love Sky to have another crack at that whole style (maybe sans triple-headedness, though), but I do realise that this would be very unlikely. I think that even doing a few links from the newsroom would make things much more lively - at the moment Sky News feels a bit dead, in my view.

I do remember Custard Creams-gate very well - though I seem to recall it was HobNobs they were eating (?) Laughing Not that any of this matters in the grand scheme of things...

Ah, those were the days...

Less white, more colour, less virtual reality stuff and more realism makes a better studio.

Who'd have thought it.

Still won't change my mind that the 2005 look was horrific though, 2010/2011 much better.

I liked it myself proper news intro sequence and Eamonn was made to do exercise!

Sky News did seem for quite a while to like have presenters walking around at the TOTH for no particular reason.

Afternoon Live was a particular example - after reading the headlines at the newswall you'd have the presenter walking across from the newswall to the 'island' when it probably would've been easier to just do the TOTH from the island.

At least the channel had some energy back then. It also had a USP and its own character, it didn't look like the BBC News channel (which, at the time, had presenters deskbound in N6).

I have no idea what Ginny's up to these days. Such a shame Sky didn't give her a chance, she was much better than most bland faces that dominate the channel these days.

As for the Crosby and Gaisford Custard Creams-gate, I remember seeing that live and I also think I saw a video of it on YT but can't find it now.
