Yeah I thought I hated the glass box but then I realised I liked it a lot when they went to the new one. I think sunrise should be broadcasting from there
I don't particularly like the glass box, I prefer the new studio, but think it's awfully small, even compared to what they started in back in 1989, where you at least had the depth of the newsroom in view behind the anchors.
I initially didn't like the glass box very much at all but it's better than it was and is much better for nights now with the different lighting that is used, although I dislike the shot for Kay's program first 2 hours with the full desk and the full big screen - I prefer the older shot they used before the relaunch without the full desk being in full view.
As for the new studio, I really don't like it whatsoever, it looks cramped, the background is uninspiring with the two screens and the virtual set with it's terrible fake ceiling and background looks more like a computer game CGI than a serious news channel - but that's just my view.
I'd much rather a realistic looking virtual studio as was used in the past for Stdio B and others rather than a 3D rendered version that is obviously fake - but even better than any virtual studio would have been a proper studio with a newsroom in the background.
But we have what we have - makes you appreciate Millbank more though!
Sky Central is obviously not on the scale of the ITN atrium but the positioning of the box does it no favours, it just kind of seems incongruous to the rest of the building.
Wouldn't it be better with some kind of frosted translucent effect on the glass like C4 News use and latterly the ITN News studio. Looking out of clear glass into office space and not a newsroom doesn't really suit the channel. It's a bit too clinical.
These are good examples of how to integrate a news studio into an office building with a real view / window.
In the new studio they need to make some improvements to the virtual realailty set. The big screen they go to, if you look at the floor or the edges of the big screen it looks all pixelated.

Lighthackers reposted an old tweet from Angela Barnes ages ago about Swipe in the old studio which is probably where this came from.
Last photo I saw of the old studio they were removing equipment, all the blue and red and set lighting was turned off and the only lighting that was on was white.
