Black screen only showed for a fraction of a second on the youtube stream, then went straight to weather maps

You know people are being very well-paid to spot and fix these glitches, right? Given your unswerving devotion to pointing them out, I think you might have just missed a career opportunity. I can put you in touch with some people if you'd like!

You'll find I didn't point this glitch out - I was just responding to another poster who did.

Appreciate it if we didn't start snipping at each other again and stick to the topic at hand.

The right response here would have been to make a gentle self-deprecating joke at your own expense, but once again your second sentence fell right into: "Can't we all just get along in purely the ways that I want us to get along, or else you should all just naff off?"

What can I say, folks, I tried, but apparently he really IS better than all of us. *bows down*

Niall Patterson on Sunday today showed what I suspected would be a problem - any more than two guests in the glass box and it looks overcrowded.

I disagree. It looks fine. In fact the whole shot looks really nice.

I must say I was really looking forward to something special but they've just reverted to that boring old glass box and havn't even updated the TOTH music! Sky News has lost it's pzazz from years ago...my favorite package I must admit and era being around 2004 when Chris Roberts & Juliette Foster were presenting and the really loud and garish in ya face graphics along with the really cool punchy newsy music! Maybe they are saving themselves for the 30th anniversary on Feb 5th 2019?....That is of course...if Trump.....who Mr Murdoch loves so much....hasn't pressed his big red button which of course is much bigger than Kim Jong Un's!!!

"Our focus for Sky1 this year is offering customers even more great drama, comedy and factual entertainment," a Sky spokesperson told Digital Spy. "Going forward we are shifting away from commissioning factual shows on the channel, and Ross Kemp's Extreme World will be coming to an end after its upcoming series."

Sky Living has a bit of an identity crisis as well, especially when a lot of the content is about people dying!

I still resent Sky for closing Bravo. Although I am not sure of the exact circumstances as to the reason, perhaps it was a copyright issue with the name? I really think Bravo could have been kept open, it was a much better channel than Sky One (from the point of view of a youngish male), Sky Bravo could have replaced Sky One. They could have really made a good investment in content like Ross Kemp type shows. I guess people must pay more to watch endless dribble rather than good hard content. The modern world.

The funny thing is that Ross Kemp's stuff was the only thing I really watched regularly on Sky One - it really was excellent and the fact that Sky can't make some space for such shows on any of the other channels shows you what the crisis of identity some of their channels are in, Sky Living and Sky One in particular - agree that a Bravo type channel is ideally missed.

I do like Hotspots though on Sky News - it's just not very easy to follow because of the lack of episode numbers in the guide and the fact it can be shown anytime and it's never apparent what is a new episode and if so when it will air - part of me thinks they'd have been best off dividing it into half hour shows and showing it at a consistent time for a block of weeks rather than the mish-mash approach to it they have now.

EastEngland, TellyFreak/SkyGeek, did you know there are, literally hundreds of other threads on this forum? I suggest you both take a break from this one for a while, before it's made mandatory.

You can speculate over my identity all you like. It remains the case that you've got somebody here who seemingly constantly shouts the odds and tells people what to do according to what he thinks the rules should be rather than what you, the mods, think they should be the moment anyone dares question his method of discourse. It's tedious, and it does distract, so I tried to add a little humour. That didn't work, so at a certain point, you just have to shrug your shoulders. I'm not going to tell you how to do your job - I just know that one user is taking up more than their fair share of oxygen, and whether or not you're going to do anything about it, it shouldn't be off limits to say: "Nobody will mind if you take yourself a little less seriously, especially if you let somebody else have a turn with the talking stick once in a while ."

Copyright issues were a non-factor, at the time of the closure announcement it was more to do of the channel aiming for the same demographic as Sky One, but without the prestige or the ratings the latter commanded in the pay TV space. A justification that has largely become redundant as their main channel has been re-positioned to aim for a wider audience.

How Sky decided to close what could have been a key entertainment channel, alongside the likes of One, Living, Atlantic and Arts, is baffling to an extent. While there is a key gap in their entertainment portfolio, I'm sure Sky is more focused on combating the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime at this point. No wonder why they now release every episode of their original drama commissions on Box Sets and NOW TV.
