Interesting change. Feel a breakfast shake-up was much needed, weekday Sunrise was just ‘there’ really and did nothing to stand out. Say what you want about Kay but she’ll generate headlines and grab attention for that slot that’s for sure.
Feel Niall has lost out a bit here - on for an hour when not many will be watching. A missed opportunity too to make afternoons doubleheaded which is a shame as I think the likes of Isobel, Tom , Gamal, Sarah Hewson and Niall are all strong and would merit a weekday daytime slot.

Name wise, Kay Burley@Breakfast sounds like a 1990s ILR breakfast show to me?

I wonder if Niall will cover the Kay Burley@Breakfast slot in her absence? Would seem the most logical?

Also would be good to see if we'll get any changes to the sets, on screen graphics or programme titles? Wishful thinking I know.

Sounds like a good change. As already stated, Sunrise was a bland, worn out space filler ever since Eamon left. Having Kay in Westminster, battling it out with policy makers, is a great way to start a news channel day.

To be honest, The Kay Burley Show felt kinda flat and too fluff, with all the dog stories and sob stories dominating. Kay's previous afternoon shows were much better.

Having SJM take over, with the same silly name is a bad move. Should have made it into a double headed rolling news slot. For some reason Sky's big wigs have a lot of faith in SJM but she's just average, as shown during her Sunrise stint.

The only downside is that I will not be able to watch Kay in the mornings. Hopefully she pops up later in the day during major breaking news.
W1LL, London Lite and BBI45 gave kudos

My fear would be that Kay's new show, immediately followed by All Out Politics - both from the same studios and therefore you'd assume the same set - will lack distinctiveness on-screen.

Wonder if there'll be a bit of wandering around the Millbank offices, ala the early days of Sky News Tonight, just to liven things up a little?

S Castle = Stephen Dixon!

Kay Burley from Millbank.

Is it possible that Castle is Stephen Dixon's real surname?

No, it was an auto-correct error when it was tweeted.

Kay: a great presenter, but woefully out of her depth on detailed, complex political issues. Same could be said for SJM. Compare to Justin Webb, for instance. Not even a contest.

Millbank: makes sense, most of the interviews are DTL from there anyway.

The name: in part, sad that the Sunrise name is going. But even after 30 years I'm not sure it entered the national consciousness.

I'm hoping for a Boulton & Co style format where they utilised more of the newsroom. Think Franceinfo Sky style!

We can only but hope - and that is exactly the sort of thing Sky News should be doing!
