Clearly the SJM era of Sunrise didn't work, although I felt she got a lot better in the role, but the double header with Niall didn't really work as a partnership.
Kay was perfect for weekday afternoons, the right mix of light and shade.

The Sarah-Jane Mee Show? Seriously? She's hardly a household name and certainly doesn't have the profile of Kay Burley.
Would've loved to have seen Niall present the 2-5 slot. His personality really fits that slot.

This is clearly Burley's call, she's a veteran of Breakfast television, doesn't surprise me at all she'd want to switch to a tv slot that will be very busy with Brexit and MPs returning to work. (Unless they return by order of law).
Agreed it's a shame to see the brand 'Sunrise' put to bed.

It’s surely more the case of the breakfast spot being a higher profile gig and Burley arguably being the standout personality at Sky News. And I include Austin and Murnaghan in that both two solid two solid capable anchors and two of the best around but they hardly set the world alight.
It’s clear the idea of this breakfast show being located in Westminster is to get big name political interviews, to set the news agenda which other broadcasters will want to use throughout the day, in same way Marr and Ridge do on Sundays. It’s seems like a much needed shot in the arm and vote in confidence for Sky News from the new owners.

Sky's 'Morning Joe'?
Not really sure that's Kay's style though.

I’d say more Sky’s weekday Andrew Marr show. In the sense of setting the news agenda for the day.
Using the @ is a bit old fashioned though. It’s a clever title from a marketing point of view though as all other broadcaster will be crediting ‘Kay Burley@Breakfast, Sky News’ which will stand out more than just ‘Sunrise’.

Interesting change. Feel a breakfast shake-up was much needed, weekday Sunrise was just ‘there’ really and did nothing to stand out. Say what you want about Kay but she’ll generate headlines and grab attention for that slot that’s for sure.
Feel Niall has lost out a bit here - on for an hour when not many will be watching. A missed opportunity too to make afternoons doubleheaded which is a shame as I think the likes of Isobel, Tom , Gamal, Sarah Hewson and Niall are all strong and would merit a weekday daytime slot.
