A nice little simulcast for New Year for Sky News & Sky One - starting to see more simulcast mainly sport, but I thought News was a big step for Sky.

I've not always checked so I may be wrong, but I believe Sky One has simulcasted the fireworks from Sky News every year.

What does Sky Sports News do?

Sky news have been involved in a shocking disregard for maintaining the dull, lifeless presentation of 2018 and made use of the screens for something other than wallpaper..... either that or the computer broke, returned to normal a few mins later.

Looks so much better like that using the full height.

I agree. They could be used to give a great depth to the set.

It might just be a case of 'this seemed like a better idea in my head', but couldn't they do something like VTM Nieuws with an expansive newsroom backdrop.

A quarter of a century or more ago, Sky One used to simulcast the 10pm bulletin with Scott Chisholm and Alison Holloway. As well as on C5 I think Sunrise has also been simulcast on Sky One.

Who remembers the BBC's Frost on Sunday (the forerunner to Marr) getting a 10am repeat on Sky News?

That looks so much better, for the wide shot, I'd say the zoomed in one of the presenter would too.

Oooh no I don't like this, because it exposes that what they have in that studio *isn't* a set. It's three big screens with grey borders, a grey desk and a grey floor. Would much prefer the graphics sitting inside the fake screen-within-a-screen that normally feature (although that's not exactly inspired either!).

Your 2nd sentence sounds like a description of a set to me...

Wow, that looks so much better. But then again, anything is better than the dull travesty they have there now.

Just stumbled across this clip looking back at Sunrise in 2013.

It really shows the stark difference between then and now. The music, the titles, the set (while on the small side, it was much more appealing to look at).

While Sarah Jane and Niall are both brilliantly professional, Eamonn and Charlotte were a duo hard to beat.

The slot deserves so much more than what it currently is.

So Sky News has managed to get their #MakeDebatesHappen enough signatures to get it debated in parliament. How on earth though can they report on it objectively when they've been the driving force behind it?
