The 'Blue only' button is really to check chroma level. Feed colours bars in, hit the 'blue only' button and adjust the chroma level so all the bars are the same brightness!

That's another use, but 1980s Sony monitors would give a 'b/w' representation of the blue channel for subjective assessment of noise

Jon Craig with some rather unnecessary commentary during the clap tonight form Downing St, saying the PM has looked a lot worse and asked him if he had had a hair cut yet... Geez just be quiet for a moment!

I completely agree. Awful.

Something that’s niggled me for a while... on the 9pm and 11pm hours, what is the pattern on the screen meant to be? It looks like some abstract gothic font.

Is it not a close up of the clock face on Big Ben?

The 9pm/11pm (and 8pm on weekends) blue stripe is a "representation" of Big Ben's face, without looking too much like it.

The 10pm stripe is - hopefully obviously - a recreated close up of Big Ben's face.

Is there any evidence of an audience for Sky News’s daily podcast? Whereas the Ed Conway one has generated headlines, the straight ‘news’ one seems to have less of a purpose to it.

But... why?

Because it looks nice?

Is there any evidence of an audience for Sky News’s daily podcast? Whereas the Ed Conway one has generated headlines, the straight ‘news’ one seems to have less of a purpose to it.

Podcast audiences are a little hard to conclusively prove, but the Sky News Daily podcast is currently number 30 in the Apple Podcasts "News" charts, ahead of Ed Conway's "The World Tomorrow" at 34. I'm sure if you look at other services, you will be able to see their charts.

The podcasts are something Sky News should be certainly doing. Having the linear tv channel is only one part of delivering the news under the brand.

It's no different to the BBC having numerous podcasts which have brought in new audiences to PSB content.
