Now they've done that, maybe they can work on turning down the saturation... the orange-ness of the Palace of Westminster is just too much and looks awful in my opinion. I understand entirely it's meant to show it at 'sunrise', but it looks a bit silly at 1 o'clock in the afternoon.
I just wish they had a live shot to be honest. Surely it's not beyond the realms of possibility considering they seemingly have one for Ian King Live.
The IKL one is a pre-existing camera (used by CNBC as well I believe) mounted on the roof of the building the studio is in. For the Breakfast shot it would require a new camera and infrastructure installed - presumably they like this angle, so that would mean you'd need to mount a high-end camera (to get adequate resolution) on Lambeth Bridge, install power & fibre, and make it safe from idiots who want to be on TV.
Possible? Sure. Cost-effective? I highly doubt it - you'd have the situation where you have a foggy day or rainy day and you'd revert to the backup shot so why install a dedicated camera in the first place? Would you even get permission from TfL who own the bridge?
