Interesting to see that Adam Boulton's home studio (backdrop at least) looks better than the actual Westminster studio screen.

True words. Don't understand the problem that in the year 2020 real background screens look far worse than a green screen or just a well adjusted TV with all the new technology. In the 2005er the newswall and everything looked far superior and more authentic, you couldn't even distinguish the 2008 newswall background from the real studio part. That's the problem when the studio as in this case the Westminster one is too small and the distance between background screens and TV presenter is too tight which makes the lighting for the presenter shine on the screens and completely deteriorates its CONTRAST!

Thinking back when Anna Botting did a special programme from Westminster - the graphics used then looked good, so it seems it's the 'live' backdrop. It's a nice idea, but stylistically I don't see the point when a branded backdrop would probably looked a lot better. Although, if they are, at some point, introducing new graphics they didn't see too much point in producing anything other than a stop-gap.

One thing I do wonder about, though it doesn't affect UK viewers, is the existence of Sky News Australia, which Murdoch is intent on steering toward right-wing Fox News style broadcasting. It seems odd to me that Sky News/NBC would want any association with that. Admittedly, most people outside of Australia don't know it exists, but it does make me wonder what the long term plans are. Whether Sky News is replaced with NBC branding, or Sky News Australia is rebranded as News Australia or something else.

It seems, and always has really, especially with Sky News Arabia, to be a messy setup. It's like if there was a Disney Australia broadcasting content aimed at viewers over 18 - that would just never happen.

I wonder if Murdoch has a long term licensing agreement with Comcast for Australia which is why they haven't rebranded?

It's worth noting that Sky News Australia is called Australia Channel for overseas viewers outside Australia and New Zealand.

Perhaps, would make sense. Although, Sky has little relevance in Australia as the equivalent cable provider over there is Foxtel - so a Fox News Australia would fit better. That said, I'm that there is no appetite for a Fox News anywhere outside of the US.

Everything about that is so much better, including music and lighting.

Better music, better lighting, lowercase text in the graphics at the bottom rather than all capitals, bit of colour being used on the three-ways, instead of white, decent screen graphics, more blue instead of white etc.

Just shows what can be done.

"It's 9 o'clock, which means you're watching the only Breakfast Show live from Westminster." Since when has the time of day meant what I am watching?

I guess there's an implicit 'and you're watching Sky News' after the time, implied because I mean, you're watching Sky News.

No, there's no "and you're watching", actually says "which means". Same, at 7am and 8am. Makes no sense!

I sense in the next 5 years Sky News AU will rebrand. They must be paying a licensing fee to Comcast that at some point won’t make sense for either party. They’ll go with a brand an name that is somewhat patriotic and pro Australia sounding - as that as Sky’s brand

News AU
AU News
News Australia

Etc.

This promo shows how different they are to Sky UK

I think they’ve said that since Kay started this programme when the new studio launched last September. I think Kay may have introduced herself there? So it was “It’s 9am, I’m Kay Burley, which means you’re watching the only Breakfast Show live from Westminster.” Because the programme title was her name. Since she’s left they just taken away the name check.
