All I am saying is that I find it irritating that, when someone suggests something, you come out and contradict it with a snide remark, but when asked exactly what you do know you throw your hands in the air and say 'don't look at me, guv, don't know a thing'.

Tough, that's how I write comments here - and always have.

I would personally look at their Election graphics, as a possible indicator of a new look. Having said that last election's graphics were un-related to their 2001 re-launch.

Five News' graphics in Jan, may be closer.

As for the Sky graphics, I am expecting something really rather super and very American-ised. If they've had the set designers (probably the one NBC use, can't remember his name) they are not going to pick ****ty graphics to go with it, I hope.

Anything that gets them away from the simple cheapo look is a bonus.

Please no, not Americanised. I don't want to see bevelled edges, animations that sparkle and 'ribbon' onto the screen, or seven different fonts used in a single graphic.

I think Sky's current graphics set are pretty good, and the broad themes could easily be carried forward without pandering to excess. Of course, I'm being facetious in my assessment of American graphics packages, but there is a good deal of 'excess' in the way that US networks present their news, and I worry that - with Sky moving in that direction with a possible multi-level studio and rotating set - the graphics could easily go in the same over-animated, far-too-colourful direction.

Jack Morton did the recent overhaul of CNBC so I wonder if its them?. I get the impression its that kind of multipurpose set that Sky will be going for. A large open plan studio area that can be divided off into different sections for various programming strands and of course, the invision newsroom.

Anyway, here's the website...

Is it just my Sky News Desktop Alert thingy that doesn't seem to be so quick anymore?

I've only just got the Blunkett message fly onto my screen, and nearly give me heart attack as usual Smile

This one's awful though

Awful colours. Making the backdrop bigger doesn't help it either. The wide big shot does look OK though, but having not seen it on screen, it's hard to work out how it all works.

Watched Sky during the Blunkett Breaking News last night. Jeremy Thompson must be away, so Chris Roberts was standing in for him, and did an excellent job.

That meant that Steve Dixon was standing in for Chris' usual later slot. I just realised last night for the first time just how abysmal Steve Dixon is. He cannot handle rolling and breaking news stories and just doesn't have the requisite on-screen gravitas for such serious news.

Sorry Steve fans.

Anyone know when Sky News will be decorating their newswall, and newsroom. Will they re-use their 2002 newswall backdrop like they did last year.

They don't actually use that part of the set very much.
