This may have been mentioned elsewhere but I can't see a thread at the moment but this week's Broadcast hints that the new Sky News studio will be double decked ... on two levels. They liken it to a double decker bus! Suppose we will all just have to wait and see.

I have images of University Challenge.

News from the stairs will be the fad to replace standing up no doubt.

I'd have been more surprised if it weren't on two levels.

Given the space they have open to them, and their key inspiration has been the MSNBC set that all of the important Sky News people popped off to visit before they started work on their own, I guess we should probably be expecting something along the lines of that.

Just pray that nobody slips and breaks their neck on the stairs whilst someone is doing a link.

Oh excellent! Does this mean new top of the hour announcements...?

"The 1100 Sky News service, your driver today is Kay Burley...and Martin Stanford is the conductor...please have your tickets at the ready."

Oh no, it means the person seated upstairs will be craftily sparking up a doobie whilst the downstairs one has no idea what's going on Smile

Hmm - but that was only because they didn't have a studio at all and had to make do with the space they had in an existing office space. Apart from some really dodgy camera angles when they started, and that stupid slowmotion walk down the stairs, effectively they were treated as two separate set areas, and not really linked visually effectively.

A better example would have been the previous Grandstand / Football Focus set, where I think the Football Focus area was above the Grandstand area?

I think that the difference with Sky and MSNBC is that they will be building a dual-level space that will work on-screen?

Well lets hope the sound balance is a bit better than that of MSNBC. The air conditioning on that set is so loud and strong I am surprised the wigs of the MSNBC anchors manage to stay glued on.

What would be nice is they stuck Kay Burley on a stanna stair lift and had her glidding up on down the two storey staircase.

Hello sir, haven't heard from you for a while. Any idea on timescale yet?

I can hear the TOTH announcement now "Sky News, with Mark Longhurst downstairs, and Kay Burley upstairs"
