ITV News will have a 'warmer' look and feel from January 16 2006 when the studio set, programme titles and graphics are revamped.

Other changes are on the way before that though; Thursday 15 December will mark Sir Trevor McDonald's last broadcast as anchor of the ITV News At 10.30. Mark Austin will be the new anchor for the programme from January 3 2006. Austin will continue in his role as co-anchor of the 6.30pm programme.

As well as having a new presenter, the 10.30pm programme will also be getting a new title: the 'ITV Nightly News'.

What with all the commotion going on at Gray's Inn Road at the moment, Trevor may just slip out unnoticed!

Indeed, hardly the time to walk into the newsroom and receive a standing ovation like John Suchet had, when loads of those people are also leaving ITV News.

I expect Trevor wouldn't want much fuss anyway

Trevor was great on The Pulse - but it was ruined by phone calls from "celebrities". Martin Bell was fine, but Dickie Bird just waffled on and on and on! Trevor looked very embarrased.

Interesting he's being interviewed on the BBC News at 10 o'clock - I wonder if they'll advise viewers to turn over?
