Or this look from Calendar that lasted a little bit longer?

Goodness, that was a terrible look wasn't it ? Probably the worst in Calendar history.

Absolutely. Makes you wonder why The Daily Politics felt the need to resurrect the astons 6 years later...

Slightly off track, but the BBC's Sixty Minutes programme (launched as a permanent replacement for Nationwide) had three set and pres re-inventions during it's short life. Sixty Minutes didn't even last sixty weeks, IIRC.

I am just wondering what news programme, channel or bulletin can lay claim to having the shortest lived presentation. I'd say BBC North West Tonight 2007 which lasted for about three quarters of a year I'd say?

September 2007 to April 2008 so really it was only 2/3 of a year.

BBC National News titles May 2006 - January 2007 were quite short.

Sorry Chris it seemed like three quarters of a year to me.

Ah - 60 Minutes. Remember it well. ISTR that the music and titles lived on after the network show was cancelled as the regions (who were given titles in the 60 Minutes brand) retained them (and their sets presumably?) I think Look North in Leeds and Spotlight in Plymouth carried on with them after the Six O'Clock News launched (and the 20/20/20 was replaced by 30/30)

Wasn't So'ton the only regional studio (in England at least) that didn't get a 60 Minutes branded set (because they'd just relaunched with their own set)

How long did News West (with the dreadful dog) last before it went back to Points West?

HTV West changed their news titles in 1991. The long-running titles in the pic below were replaced with a ghastly modern look. From memory, the new look featured some shapes that were supposed to represent the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The shapes 'opened up' to reveal the HTV News logo. It had a dark blue background, and continued to use the same music from the 1986 titles.

I was at HTV for a day's work experience on the day it was introduced. I remember meeting presenter Gill Impey in the small continuity / news studio. She asked me for my opinion and I said I wasn't keen. She agreed with me! On the floor was the old HTV News sign. I asked if I could have it, but she said they had to keep it just in case!

Lucky they did keep it. I think they had lots of complaints because after a couple of weeks the old titles were brought back!

Can anyone else remember this? It was so short-lived I can't find an image of it anywhere

Never noticed before, but this frame here looks identical to a frame from the ITV News opening circa 2002, as they fly through the titles to the studio.

London Tonight had a new look that came in after the original 1993 look, not sure of the year but it didn't last long and was soon replaced with this (below) when Natasha Kaplinsky joined IIRC.

I do believe you mean this look....

I like the music on it, but the titles and logo aren't great really, no wonder it disappeared off air quickly.

Yes that's the one - although at the time I didn't like it I'd take it over the current LT any day of the week.
