I am just wondering what news programme, channel or bulletin can lay claim to having the shortest lived presentation. I'd say BBC North West Tonight 2007 which lasted for about three quarters of a year I'd say?

How about this look from Anglia News that lasted only 4 and a half months? Or this look from Calendar that lasted a little bit longer?

Doesn't really count, but a couple of times Five have had a big news relaunch only to tweak their logo a few months later meaning a hasty re-edit of the titles.

And I guess you could say the mini-revamp of ITV News last year ahead of the full revamp in November only lasted a few months.

September 2007 to April 2008 so really it was only 2/3 of a year.

BBC National News titles May 2006 - January 2007 were quite short.

Granada Reports had only relaunched a week before Anglia did, and what you saw was a lot worse and made you think they should have stuck with the previous look until the generic look arrived.

How about Sky News in 2001? They relaunched in May for the 2001 General Election, the look was only intended to be used for the Election but they kept it until the end of September 2001.

Goodness, that was a terrible look wasn't it ? Probably the worst in Calendar history.

Horrible garish colour scheme, awful titles and a desk that looked like a tupperware container.

Another Granada one, this look for Granada Tonight from 1998, it lasted from January up until the day ITV changed their logo which was early October... the music is nice, but the titles, the graphics and set were tacky, even for the 90s it was tacky...

Looking through TV Ark it's safe to say Granada had a habit during the late 1980's of changing their News look quite frequently most notably 1986, 1987, 1988 a minor refresh in 1989, 1990, 1992 and then 1993, at times when Regional News looks lasted a while...

I think a lot of the regional shows revamped - or at least tweaked - pretty regularly back in the 1990's - certainly on ITV anyway. They certainly revamped far more often than the national news, and I guess with ITV often revamps would come in when a channel was bought out by another company - e.g. Central News had what I think was one of the best looks ever around 1997, which was then replaced with a rather bland square affair when Carlton ditched the Central cake. Another contender would be the period when Bob Warman hosted the show alone in the studio with his co-host doing a round up in some kind of virtual set.

Going back a bit further, I think London Plus may hold some kind of record in the number of times they meddled with their opening titles and sets over a relatively short period in the mid-1980s. The first set of titles lasted less than six months (from September 1984)...

http://hub.tv-ark.org.uk/images/bbc_se_and_ldn/images/bbc_se_old_images/news/bbclondonplus1984a-01.jpg http://hub.tv-ark.org.uk/images/bbc_se_and_ldn/images/bbc_se_old_images/news/bbclondonplus1984-01.jpg http://hub.tv-ark.org.uk/images/bbc_se_and_ldn/images/bbc_se_old_images/news/lpset84-01.jpg

...since the BBC1 mirror globe merged into the globe at the start of the London Plus titles. When the globe changed in February 1985, so London Plus had to introduce new titles:

http://hub.tv-ark.org.uk/images/bbc_se_and_ldn/images/bbc_se_old_images/news/london_plus_v1_d-01.jpg http://hub.tv-ark.org.uk/images/bbc_se_and_ldn/images/bbc_se_old_images/news/london_plus_v1_a-01.jpg

which also didn't last very long, since in July 1985 the music was re-recorded (and ruined in the process) and the first part of the titles changed. By this time a new set had also been introduced:

http://hub.tv-ark.org.uk/images/bbc_se_and_ldn/images/bbc_se_old_images/news/london_plus_v2_e-01.jpg

Then in February 1986 it was all change again with completely new music and titles and an altered set:

Then in early 1987 it was time for another new set and slightly altered titles:
