Well BBC World is the last channel I tune in for breaking news. I don't know what needs to happen for them to suspend their programmes like WBR etc.
CNN now has Wolf Blitzer and The Situation Room.

I thought Wolf Blitzer was from Fox News? I may be wrong...

Just a shocking story, especially with the images on mobile phones captured, been across all the networks all night, Fox being typically modest and sensitive I see

And did anyone notice at about 7.00pm when Sky very briefly showed a still photo of a naked blood-stained body being carried by four people? It was quite gruesome and I am sure it was a momentary mistake to show it before the watershed.

That sounds like the pic that was on the front page of the Fox News website for a while. Sky showed it more than once I think.

CNNI are still with CNN Domestic. I can't recall another story where they stayed with their output in recent years.

Has anyone got anyone on site yet? John Irvine was on his way for ITV news at 18.30BST. I haven't seen anyone from the BBC arrive yet.

What are WORLD doing?

Nik Gowing was on duty until 20.00. However, it wasn't rolling coverage - they still broadcast their other programmes, such as WBR and Sport Today. At 20.00, they went to The World, as usual, with Kirsty Lang. They spent about 5-10 minutes on the story before going to other news. After The World, there was a recorded programme at 20.30 and Nik Gowing has just returned at 21.00 with World News Today.

Not the best coverage I have ever seen BBC World do. News 24 was better but in the end, I switched over to CNN for their domestic output when BBC World went to other programmes.

BBC World were as usual awful when it comes to Breaking News, I can't believe they were showing FastTrack!

The Sago Mine Disaster early last year. That was the one where rejoiceful reporters gleefully announced that all 12 miners had been rescued alive. In fact, one was alive, the other 11 had died.

For a brief while during the wee hours, CNN switched to domestic as the good news rolled on in the States. Seconds after a distraught woman who had been at a briefing for the families approached Anderson Cooper and told him what really happened (thus helping CNN break the story), CNNI reverted back and stayed with Domestic for quite awhile.

Looking back on Fox News coverage, there was a painful irony in a question that the anchor asked the hospital spokesperson, where the sole rescued miner was being treated...

"The fact that only one miner has been taken to the hospital... does that mean to suggest that the other 11 are in a better condition Lisa?"

I cringed when I rewound the tape and saw that. Getting back on topic, Fionnaula Sweeney briefly did a round-up from London, CNN US is back now.

It's such a terrible, terrible story. Whatever about the way it was handled by authorities, 33 families are without their loved ones this evening. It's a tragedy.

I think the problem is there has also been bad weather which has stopped the networks getting everyone there. Assume they will start appearing post midnight.

Nicky is right. The weather has been awfully bad. Its been very windy here in the Virginia area and its assumed it might get worse overnight. But the likes of Brian Williams and Katie Couric are already down there.

It's been an odd story in that respect, lots of interviews by phone. Virtually all the live reports I've seen have come from local TV stations.

BTW anyone knwo what a 'CNN I-Reporter' is? the mobile phone footage was taken by one

I think "iReporter" is another term for member of the public who has sent in material - a form of citizen journalism or user generated content, kind of the equivalent of the BBC asking people to e-mail or MMS photos etc.
