Westminster Security Incident

A very big but rare mis-step from Channel 4 News, I have to say. Surprised that of all the news outlets it would be them to make such a misjudgement like that.

I'd have thought that both the BBC and ITV would surely aim to also fit the regional news within the 10pm hour (i.e. starting circa 22:50 on both channels)?

ITV is airing the local news as scheduled at 11pm.

Julie Etchingham gave a news reminder on ITV from Westminister that ITV News will be on at 10.

Although; there was only a white ITV News logo present on screen during the reminder.

The "AT TEN" part of the logo was not there. Is that normal for a live NaT promo while doing a OB?

NaT music played throughout the reminder though.

A technical question: I noticed both Sky and the BBC almost immediately using their live Westminster birds eye cameras (don't know the correct term). Sky have had theirs in the same vantage point (top of QEII?) for years

Sky had theirs up straight away, meaning they had live pictures moments after the event happened, as the news broke

- how are these controlled remotely? It seemed to take Sky a few minutes to start moving their camera and zooming in to the scene

- and why aren't these more commonly used. It always surprises me there aren't similar arrangements at Heathrow or Gatwick, given the frequency of incidents/weather problems etc there

I've always wondered and today seems to have proven their worth.

There still using the 10.30 titles.

ITV Correspondent outside Scotland Yard after the press conference had a good 30 seccond delay in his ear-piece.

A nice ending from ITV News, with credits over a shot of the Houses of Parliament through the London Eye.

Channel 4 have uploaded the news, but I dare say with some cuts...

ITV London News had a playout issue with a report from Simon Harris not appearing just after the start of their late bulletin.

It has come back on screen now.

BBC News branded bulletin at midnight, not Newsday as is usual.

Tomorrows Business Live seems to have been cancelled in favour of an extended Breakfast simulcast- an utterly pointless move unless the presenters are needed for general news coverage.
