I cant answer you question directly but CBS news was the first to give the figure of 27 people being killed. The BBC News Channel broke away from the 6 O'Clock News for rolling coverage but were very slow before 6pm persisting with a scheduled recording, Booktalk possibly I think it was.
Understandably most if not all the news channel's are running/rolling with this terrible story non stop.
Does anyone know which news agency was the first to break the story?

They actually broke the story well before Film 24. They recapped the breaking news just be 6pm and handed straight over to Fiona Bruce for the Six. The News Channel then broke away at 6:10pm after the report on the shootings for continued breaking coverage.

I thought they might be as Tim did say 'we're also broadcasting to viewers in the UK at the moment, please don't mention the person whose been named unofficially locally' or something like that.

I just seen a tweet, it seems the US media are interviewing children at the school, shocking..

Yes, with the parents consent too? What were the parents thinking.
The reporter saying 'what was it like to have bullets fly past you' or words to that effect... Awful.

I'm surprised the BBC (and other UK media including the Mail and Sky News) are running with the unconfirmed name of the gunman, especially after the recent Leveson report etc.
Good thing the BBC didn't run with the image of the alleged gunman as CBS did, especially as it was the wrong person...
