I see from the STV website that Shereen is still at STV reading the news on Scotland Today. Is she now considered as the bulletin's senior anchor? I did not recognise any of the other presenter names that were listed on the website. I left Scotland many years ago, but always enjoyed Scotland Today. It seems that Shereen is the only one left!! She used to make lots of mistakes and blunders - is she any better? Notwithstanding, she was always natural and very likeable.
Also, STV fans, what is the current whereabouts of the following presenters, who all excelled in their fields:
Malcolm Wilson
Sheena MacDonald
Vyvyan Mackeson
Viv Lumsden
Geoff Brown
Alan Fisher
John Tosshack
Mark Smith (Shereen's husband??)
Fiona Ross
These were all good quality braodcasters and a pity they are not on STV any longer. One can only assume that they have graduated onto better things.
Shereen joined the team roundabout 1983 as a PJ.She started to fill in for Sheena McDonald in 85 and i think roundabout 1986 when Scotland Today was relaunched she started to present it with Angus Simpson who had been at Border before that.Angus is now at Saga radio in Glasgow as STV did not renew his contract last year they prefer to have NON qualified Journalists presenting their hard news stories such as Sarah Heany and Nick Dixon.Typical STV two for the price of one.
John Mackay is the other main anchor along with Shereen he has been there about ten yrs before that he was at BBC Scotland .Louise White also ex BBC Scotland (and Kirsty Youngs replacement) is another anchor who has been side stepped to the lunchtime show since the arrival of Sarah Heany.Sarah and Nick Dixon a former STV announcer are the other two anchors sometimes Stephen Jardine fills in also.
Shereen still blunders and stumbles but you know what i can handle that.Shereen is by far the best at STV she does NOT have a ego Shereen is very down to earth and genuine.
Viv Lumsden now does event management with her husband Alan ex BBC RPS Anchor.
Geoff Brown went off the rails a bit and is no longer at STV that's all i'm saying on that subject !!!!.
Alan is at GMTV as the above poster mentioned.Fiona Ross retired about three yrs ago but does some bits on BBC Radio Scotland.
Don't know anything about Malcolm Wilson haven't even seen him about .
Sheena MacDonald is starting to do more work again following her long recovery from her accident when she hit by a police car.
The last thing Fiona Ross did for STV was at the Scottish Parliament elections last year. She was presenting a documentary on Independent MSP Margo MacDonald. I think she's freelance mainly working in the press.

On a sad note, Geoff Brown died last year.
It was sad what happend to Geoff . Suzy didn't deserve any of what he put her through,i'm glad she is moving forward with her life.
Thanks for all of your replies. It was nice to see some memories of people back home in the UK. Sad to hear about Geoff. I remember him as a newscaster on Scotland Today many years ago. If I remember correctly, he used to present alongside Shereen or Viv in the big blue studio that had an illuminated thistle as the leg support!!!
I also remember Mark Smith presenting from the same set and he always had dirty shoes that we could often see behind the desk when he pivoted to do the Sports handover.
I am sure he (Mark) and Shereen were husband and wife. Maybe I am wrong.
So, what about the other names mentioned above - Vyvyan, Malcolm, etc. Anyone know what they are up to?
Lewis C - your description of Shereen is spot on accurate. No ego and extremely likeable and natural.

From what i remember Shereen and Mark were an item but not married not sure what the others are up these days .
Someone told me that Vyvyan Mackeson now presents on an ITV Souhern England region (local news). Not sure which.
I am also having an ongoing argument with a friend back in Glasgow who is ADAMANT that in the eighties when a famous steel plant in Lanarkshire was closed down, the headlines on Scotland Today that evening should have been "Huge Jobs Blow for Lanarkshire". But, according to my mate, you've guessed it, he reckons that Shereen got the words "Jobs Blow" mixed up and said them the other way round, direct into camera, with Viv Lumsden alongside trying not to laugh.
Can anyone verify that this actually did occur, or is my mate pulling my leg?
Anyway, who cares, Shereen is still an excellent and natural, down to earth news presenter.
Why doesn't she get a chance on the ITV News Channel, like so many other regional presenters do at the weekend? Or is she best at Cowcaddens?

Comments?
Never heard that story about Shereen .However i would love to see her on the ITV News Channel .Shereen realy has the nack of connecting with the viewers and she has that natural quality about her unlike some of the others who are NOT even qualified journalists and who just want to be TV Presenters .That is where RPS takes the upper hand on Scotland Today their Presenters and Reporters are qualified and credible it's a shame as Shereen, John, Stephen, and Louise all have a news backgrounds where as Sarah was a lingere model and Nick was a voiceover they are to light weight and this comes across .
I hate the idea of lingerie models (Sarah Heaney) presenting the News on television. It just goes to show how incredible and how seriously STV take the role.
May I ask on what credentials Sarah was hired by STV to present the News? The fact that she appears regularly in Hello! and OK! magazines goes to show the type of "personality" she is perceived to be.
However, Whilst she may have long flowing golden locks and look the part, I don't think the viewers are fooled. The Central Scotland audience is far more at home with Shereen Nanjiani in the chair presenting their nightly news.
The thing is, Sarah is a lovely lass. For all that she is required to 'read', then her background really is sufficient.
I must say though that I did catch her doing the evening news with Shereen the other night and I wasn't keen on the way she was delivering her piece. She seemed (to me) to be putting the emphasis on all the wrong words.
Maybe I'm contradicting myself here. It wouldnt be the first time. I suppose what I'm getting at is that she may not be Haig Gordon or Sheena McDonald, but she's not *that* bad.
Just read an amusing piece online about Shereen being caught on air with her hands down her trousers, when ITN unexpectedly cut back to Glasgow early during a transmission.
Also, the attached link would appear to verify that there was a Scotland Today presenter who did have a problem with the phrase Jobs Blow!!
