Yes, I can live without watching Andrew Willson in front of their house, other reporters entering their house and lurking around and interviews with annoying people from their village.
UK media is really not muh better than the American, they just love those missing people stories, brutal murders etc.

The mother has been on trial in the middle class press for weeks but we seem to be into the tutting & inuendo phase now. 'Daughter found with stepfathers uncle how terrible.' I doubt if we will ever find out what has gone on in the family and its got nothing to do with us anyway. Its gossip now not news.

Well at the moment, there is not much happening, so this level of coverage is not good, but I do want to know what happened, and I think its important we are told, as the family was asking for the help of the public, which makes it of public interest.
I also am annoyed at how this family have been portrayed by the press, just because they dont go to church like the McCans, and because the kids have different fathers. This is Britain circa 2008, can the press please not treat them as some kind of abnormal, 'evil' entity.

Exactly - the comparison with the mother is especially interesting. The press were quick to condemn suggestions that Madelines' mum - who remember abandoned her three infant kids to go out with firends - could at all be involved, but were quite happy to doubt Shannon's mothers innocent.
Agree with pretty much everything said here:

Yeah I reckon there's more to this story but that said, yeah, she's found, thats the end of it. Sky still glorifying it as if it's still breaking news is just ridiculous now.

Furthermore to the post above, this article by Iain Dale hits the nail squarely on the head.
Whilst I think that now Miss Matthews has been found, the coverage is somewhat excessive, I fail to see how a very similar case (only different in that the parents were more middle-class, the event happened on a holiday, and that the girl was younger) managed to attain so much coverage, and is still seen regularly on the front cover of the Di-ly Obsess .
Either way, it's good that she's been found alive and well.

I saw that exclusive ITV News clip, mostly you could just hear Kay Burley in the background in the TV turned up really loud.

ITV News have exclusive footage of Shannon's family getting the call that she's alive and nobody is going to see it tonight.

I heard the news about teatime on the itv news yesterday. I got the basic facts then had to switch over to the 24 newschannels for the speculative drama coverage fix. Sky wins in the drama awards. It's almost soap opera addictive.
