The old thread has been archived so I've made a new one!

I notice this afternoon Setanta Sports News have had a new look, in Widescreen it seems. The ticker tells viewers how to change their settings to view the channel properly. There not using the ITN style font anymore, this one seems more like Gill Sans but I don't think it is actually that font.

It does look like they've put a lot more thought into these graphics, just one nice slim ticker, nice side bar, not too much yellow. It looks nice.

Yeah, it changed earlier this week, looks much better to me. Why they didn't go with something like this from the start I don't know!

Good to see it's getting a good audience, though most of them must be Virgin viewers. The channel has improved lots in the past 12 months and that is welcome being a Virgin customer.

Wonder where the logo came from on the front of the desk in the photo below!

I'm liking the new graphics and the move to take the channel 16:9, especially as it's come before Sky Sports News. As for the bottom image, what is that wall on the left, is it just fancilly decorated, or is it a video wall?

I can't remember what that wall is but I can tell you that right on the other side is the channel's gallery.

Correctomondo! The ''wall" is actually a set of doors that have been converted.

Is this the studio where the ITN News Channel used to be based?

I don't think it is, If I remember correctly apparently the Studio is based on the Ground Floor at Grays Inn Road, so more likely it came from the original Channel 5 News Studio.

Although on screen there seems to be the odd bit of huge blank screen (on the left next to the league tables), the new look is alot better, it looks far less busy, plus the font is nice too.

Also noticed the endcap they show at the end of the hour now, just the animated ITN one that says An ITN Production for Setanta Sports and Virgin Media.

I guess it's because they had News 24 but it's a shame Virgin didn't go looking for a replacement for Sky News too when they lost the Sky channels - and it's a wonder that ITN haven't taken the opportunity to launch an on demand news service on the platform.

For some reason accessing News via the On Demand function seems to be like a non-starter for me, I don't use it that much anyway. I'd rather watch it live rolling.

ITN know that having a 24 Hour News channel simply doesn't work, the costs don't break even at all, a lesson they learned from the ITN News Channel days and don't forget NTL had a 50% share in that. You need deep pockets to run a News channel, and ITN don't have BBC or Sky money.
