September 11th changed the world politically and in many other ways. However, I would expcect a large special programme on the 5th or tenth anniversaries of the terrorist attacks rather than every year. I surmise American News Stations will mention it slightly more than the British, but I am sure there will be reports on it. Just not huge specials with Huw or George fronting them.

I checked up BBC World's and CNN's earlier on. Both doesnt seem to have Specials on it, except a sort of memorial programme 6pm GMT+8.

Just turned on Fox News to see an 'As it Happened' footage of Fox News on 9/11. They showed the planes strike the towers, followed shortly after by a body jumping from one of the towers.
I wasn't expecting to see that, and it made me gasp out loud. I'm really undecided as to whether or not we should be reminded of such startling images.

AIUI use of the footage is discouraged over here, it's only shown in very rare specific circumstances
Really surprised that the memorial service is only being shown on Euronews and Fox . Being a Sunday I'd have though the news channels would have loved an oppertunity to fill an hour covering it

It depends which footage you use. Those broadcasters who have deals with US broadcasters can of course use their footage of the event (the BBC and ABC for example)
The main problem is that on the day the US networks abandoned all their rivalries and shared all their pictures. This meant that a few weeks later foreign broadcasters like the BBC had to look through all their video and identify ownership of it all, so everyone knew what they could and couldn't use

Why am I not surprised that, Fox News would choose to re-show some of the most horrific footage from that day?
