Considering Alex Salmond lives in his own independent land of one lunatic I doubt this has been addressed, but has anything been said about the future of commercial TV should Scotland vote yes. We've seen a bit about their plans for an SBC but anything about STV. If they owned the whole C3 franchise it would presumably be quite straight forward but ITV having Border Scotland somewhat complicates things, and I suspect that's the way ITV like it. If the franchise was reissued and STV won it I suspect ITV would launch an ITV Scotland with all their hit shows but none of the regulatory requirements.

I'm not sure ITV could launch an 'ITV Scotland' as all their hit (some people may add a S to this word) shows would be connected to the Channel 3/ITV Network. Though I am aware the situation has changed slightly in recent years.

To answer the original question, ITV Border's franchise is guaranteed until 2024 I believe. After that who knows...

As for the debate - ITV were never going to show the debate before News At Ten, shame an agreement couldn't be made for after the News. A bit strange how the BBC Parliament channel got the first chance to rescreen the programme, with ITV being a fellow Channel 3 franchise holder.

Question time isn't live but it's broadcast all at once. It's a bit poor when you see a repeat of something you've already seen the reportage on the previous night. Not comparable imo.

Ipsos MORI are pretty well respected (they're no YouGov). I wouldn't worry about the conspiracy theorists who have commented on it.

Is there even a documented connection between Ben Page and David Cameron in any case?

Surely though any change in the status of Scotland deems any contracts with the UK regulator null and void. STV would no longer be part of the Channel 3 network, so the future of ITV programming in Scotland would depend on the wording of their recent deal.

TV3 in Ireland has a whole world of trouble, with the announcement that UTV Ireland is to start in the south. However, it does prove a point that STV in an independent Scotland can easily work with only minor changes to the current set up. UTV Ireland has been given an Irish licence and will basically broadcast the ITV schedule (with a few exceptions, X factor, Britains Got talent and Downton abbey)

I doubt it, unless the contracts specifically state that they would lapse in the event of separation.

Of course the status of STV would change and the ITV Border anomaly would need to be dealt with but these would presumably happen through negotiations post-September.

Why is it getting a repeat on BBC one just 2 hours later?
