I'm aware of that. However, the media likes to make people think that the SNP getting in 'could mean your children will die'. So, I would imagine that England will have a vote 07 show with local council results but David will occasionally mention that 'north of the border' people are voting in the Scottish Parliament elections. How are they doing? Here's Ann Mackenzie to tell us. That kind of thing. With a patrionising Anne telling the English viewers how the Union could come to a horrible end, etc, etc.

smgboi - Anne has never been patronising and I doubt she'll start now. Perhaps, her other colleagues are though?
I am just surprised that such a big circus comes from a council election. I bet that most people in England do not care what we do up here. It is just not a big issue for many people down south!!

Watched Scotland Debates the other night, and it looks as though Jack is gonnae be given a real run for his money come the elections. The other party leaders made our First Minister look a right jester, however in saying that is there anyone who wonders if Alex will fulfull his promises or is he just and only interested in breaking up Britain? Confused

I am confused at why they would have segments about a Scottish Election within a council election programme though. I am also confused as to why this is on BBC One in England, as I did not realise council elections were so big down south.
3rd May is also the date of Welsh Assembly elections; presumably the programme will cover these and the English local elections too.

Anne MacKenzie has presented the 'meet the leaders' debates for a couple of elections now - these have usually taken place in the Kelvin Gallery at Glasgow University, sometimes with studio audiences.

Bernie is giving our First Minister a good grilling right now on STV. Jack is not faring well at all. It is a pity that STV election programmes have all been central belt based, unlike the BBC.
Was that a mobile phone ringing at the start of the show?

The ABC's Foreign Correspondent had a story on Scottish nationalism last week - I thought it was quite a good one.

For some reason there isn't any video up, but you can read the transcript here or the synopsis here.

nyyrrrrrPING.

Do you know what that was? That was the sound of a very old joke wearing so thin that it snapped. now STOP IT, it's tiresome.

More importantly, why is the BBC Scotland bus so knacky and battered?

Surely something slightly better could have been found for housing fabulous Jackie? (her coat in real life was even more fabulous than it looks there btw)

To be pendantic, at the time that bus was new, the MCW Metrobus Mk1 was being built solely for London Transport. Most other operators in the UK had by then switched to the Mk2 model which was lauched a few years earlier. London Transport, however, wouldn't buy the Mk2 Metrobus and insisted on still buying the earlier version.

The Metrobus was also available for other builders to body. It was built between 1978 and 1989, when MCW closed down.

Now, back to the main topic.....

I know this thread is about the Scottish Elections, but seeing as the Welsh Assembly Election is also held on Thursday - in case anyone's interested, the coverage down here is as follows :

BBC One Wales 2235-0600 with Huw Edwards and BBC Wales Political Editor Betsan Powys
ITV Wales 2330-0530 with Wales Tonight presenter Jonathan Hill
S4C 2200- 2205 preview, then 2230-0530* with Dewi Llwyd and BBC Welsh Affairs Editor Vaughan Roderick
BBC Radio Wales 2200-0600 with Richard Evans and Bethan Rhys-Roberts
BBC Radio Cymru 2200-0600 with Garry Owen

*BTW the 0530 ending might be a bit optimistic from what I hear a number of results could be later - especially the regional list seats which are counted by a devilish-ly complicated form of PR
