ITV News has Chisholm for breakfast

The ITV News Channel's future may be in doubt, but this has not stopped the network hiring Scott Chisholm to host a new breakfast show.
Chisholm was part of the original Sky News presenting team when the UK's first rolling news channel launched in 1988 and hosted the network's World News Tonight for five years. He left Sky News in 1993 after a newsroom fracas with fellow presenter Chris Mann.

Chisholm's new show launches on December 12, running from 7am to 10am, returning for 45 minutes each weekday from 11.45am.

This is really good news!

I have always enjoyed the combination of Lucy Alexander and Andrew Harvey on the breakfast shift but always feel it is a waste both of them on so early.

It is great news that Andrew Harvey will take over the weekend morning slot vacated by Angela Rippon earlier this year.

I have listened to Scott Chisholm on Talk Sport for many years now and think he will be an asset to ITV News and wonder if this gives an indication that the ITVNC will survive next year?

Certainly an interesting development, all things considered.
Shame they haven't gone for a 6am start - I'm sure that the audience is miniscule, but back-to-back. Morning News repeats don't really cut it against Sunrise and Breakfast.

So what will happen to LIVE with John Nicholson at the weekend?

The article quotes ITV as saying:

'ITV News Channel promised that Chisholm would be joined on his show by "high profile guests" to discuss the big issues of the day.'

Isn't this exactly what they promised with Angela Rippon, and look what happened to her.

She was there every weekend, then took days off, weeks off and was never to be seen again.

It'd be interesting to know how long Chisholm has signed up for, all things considered.

This is good news, always liked him when he fronted the very short lived 5 News Early, good to see him back on TV.

Plus I'm glad they're giving Andrew Harvey a better spot, he's a good presenter too, shame he's only on the NC.

He was on Talk Radio (much better than talksport but I know what you mean) he quit in 1999/2000 I think to set up a business and came back to radio on to Real Radio when the War in Iraq broke for a while.

Good news, but what's happening to John Nicholson - I think he really suits the weekend format - hopefully a more high-profile role is on the way for him.

I take it that Breakfast will no longer be co-anchored then?

I don't know - if Scott's format is going to be more guests-and-discussion based, I would have thought they'd have a second presenter to do the news summaries during his programme and Alastair's.
