I'm not quite sure what your point is with the last comment, surely 2002 is better as it is more recent?
And Reporting Scotland's set is hardly cheapo - multiple programmes can be broadcast from there with their own identity (RS, Newsnight Scotland, Politics Show etc) without looking the same. This cannot be said of the Scotland Today set, which will look like a dressed-up Scotland Today set whatever they try to do with it. Additionally, the screens are of much less quality than RS.
It does look very tatty though, surely you must agree that the cracks and scuffs on the desk and the fake backgrounds are all a bit noticeable?
Im actually not too much of a fan of the current RS set, never liked the heavy heavy blue. However, still think it looks more "solid" than RS.
