Well for the 'North Tonight' relaunch they are talking about making it sympathetic to the ITV look but still maintaing the individual look. I like the Scotland Today set and the way they adapt it for their other programmes.

Is that official - NT getting a makeover??? The problem now in Aberdeen Grampian has a very little studio so it is never going to look good.

Any idea when this revamp will take place?

University of Glasgow.
(I don't think I've ever heard anyone say 'Glasgow Uni' when referring to Cally)

STV are hoping to be in pacific quay by summer 2006, slightly earlier than the BBC. There are rumours of Scotland Today getting a slightly new look after the summer. They've already started tinkering with graphics, adding large red captions at the bottom of the screen during lives. They clash a bit with the normal cations.

Well of what I have seen of Scotland Today I would NOT swap Grampian's North Tonight for it!!! I think you need to look again at NT.... Evil or Very Mad

Is it true that Viv Lumsden is to come back to broadcasting on television? Just heard this from a mate who is visiting from Glasgow.

We of course were more interested in Shereen and what she is currenlty doing, but then La Lumsden cropped up in the conversation. I was surprised to hear that she was now a celebrated food critic, as well as socialite on the Glasgow upmarket scene.

Despite all that, I actually quite liked Viv. She was accessible and always pleasurable to watch.

Wonder what is is she will be doing? I suppose a return to newsreading is less likely??? Is she a qualified journalist?

Hello - I'm back with the tail between my legs.

Will STV and BBC Scotland be sharing the same base at Pacific Quay. If so that will be interesting.

I hope that we can all put our heads together and think of a way to save Rep. Scot. This idea of a Scottish 10.30 may push both sides into producing high quality news programmes both for a national and local audience in Scotland - or am I just being too optimistic??

Whether it be BBC or ITV - Scotland's new service needs revamped for the better.

It is interesting to see how people in the central belt want a more locally based programme and those in the north and borders want their own identity stamp on both BBC and ITV networks.

I suppose that means that a main and local opt out may be the best way forward?? The question would be how do you break that down - Inverness studio for Highlands and Islands; Aberdeen studios for North East Scotland; Edinburgh for Central, Fife and Lothian; Glasgow for West of Scotland; Dumfries for South West and Borders??

Then there is the issue of Border TV - who are not within the SMG.

It is rather hard to make this work and more importantly cost effective - good luck to all at Carlisle Television Centre,Cowcaddens,Tullos and Queen Margaret Drive.

One thing is for sure - Scotland's news programming is in need of a revolution.

Not the same building, but I think they are next door to each other.
