Yes, Caroline Feraday working on SET covering for Ceri Perkins maternity leave AIUI and trained to read news with a beaming smile. She occasionally worked on ITV Play's The Mint (from Maidstone) last year alongside Brian Dowling. Previous to this she read the travel news on Invicta FM.
If you think her newscasting is bad, you should see her reporting!
I like watching her on the last opt out during Breakfast (at around 8:55 - 9:00). She talks to Pat Marsh from BBC Radio Kent (despite this going out in a large area not covered by Radio Kent). He only gets a few seconds to plug his show and when his time is up, Caroline Feraday touches her chin. She does it in such an obvious way though. I can't leave for work until I have seen her do it. Once you notice it, you can't miss it.
How do other presenters signal that they want Pat Marsh to stop talking? I haven't seen any other presenter being so obvious. I assume Caroline Feraday would be terrible at poker.

What you have to consider is when South East Today first started in 2001 a lot of the presenters came from reporting/presenting on local radio - obviously their personality doesn't reflect on-screen. I think a lot of them, as in Caroline's sake have talent in broadcasting but are not in anyway trained for television - so its all screen tested.
