Going to have to disagree with you about the old RT set. It looked cheap and the revamped set made the channel look semi-professional for the first time along with the switch to 16:9. The newswall allows them to utilise the graphics to explain some of their indepth stories a lot better than if they were stuck in the old broom cupboard.
The Breaking the News set looks good, yet the desk bound bulletin on RT America set is a flashback to the bad old days of Moscow based pres.
If anyone was going to stand-up against the editorial policy of RT, it was always going to be Abby Martin.
Abby was hired as she doesn't agree with anything America does politically which of course suited the editorial agenda of the channel, yet as seen on last night's edition, she'll go against Russia as well.
Apparently, people have noticed on the repeat editions of last night's show on RT International that they've edited out that segment of the show.
RT's response 'it respects her views, they'll be no reprimands' which all sounds good - but they're going to fly Abby out to Crimea to get a more close-up view of the story ...
Hope she doesn't encounter the burly Russian guys whom have no association whatsoever to the Russian army but still keep managing to stand in front of them ...

Actually, per Martin herself, she won't be going to Crimea:
Hi @Josiensor, thanks for your article. But I am not going to Crimea despite the statement RT has made. Please update accordingly.
Abby was back on Breaking the Set at 0030 GMT, the first part discussed Ukraine with a guest doing a two-way as well as the fact Abby made the news, the second featured a repeat of an interview from Feb 24th, with a brief link from Abby at the end with a normal sign-off, but with a wide smile.
Hmm. Give it a few weeks/months for this all to die down and she'll be outta there.
She makes some relatively fair points but comes across as someone with a hugely inflated sense of their own importance in that clip. She also misses (intentionally?) the point that someone on a Russian network criticising Russian actions (rare) is slightly more newsworthy than someone on RT crticising the US (all the time - in fact, they speak about the US more than Russia most days).
Also, this use of the term mainstream media is hugely tedious. You're on Freeview, it's hard to work out what could be more mainstream than that. Enough of the martyr syndrome.

RT America based in Washington DC, where Breaking the Set is produced from and targeted at is still a niche channel in the States and doesn't enjoy the coverage RT International has in the UK.
The term 'Mainstream Media' is used for the main news networks in the US.
RT Intl, also air the RT America programming Boom Bust and The Big Picture which is also aimed at an American audience.
