Wow high impact graphics not sure if the bbc would do that sort of thing.

I know it's a while ago but the BBC do like to try 3D graphics now and again...

Russia Today are still displaying GMT on their clock even though we're an hour in front for the summer. Unless there are other countries that still use GMT in the summer?

GMT is mentioned because it's used internationally as a reference used to calculate the local time. For instance, CET is GMT+1, except in the summer when it's GMT+2. Eastern Standard Time (in the U.S.) is GMT-5, while Eastern Daylight Time is GMT-4. Many countries do not observe summer time at all; in those cases, the difference between GMT and their own local time remains constant year-round.

GMT itself does not change to summer time.

Is it UDT or GMT?

There's not such thing as Universal Daylight Time, if that's what you are referring to. GMT and UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) are the same.

Also, almost all of Asia don't observe Daylight Savings Time... so for Philippines and the most of Southeast Asia, it's GMT+8.

Right, and even the countries that do observe summer / daylight saving time often adopt it on different dates. In EU countries, it began on March 31 this year. In the U.S., however, it began three weeks earlier -- on March 10.

Therefore, using a "summer" version of GMT wouldn't make much sense.

RT now has a UK specific show on Wednesdays. Going Underground looks at underground and other British news not covered by what they consider mainstream media.

Lembit Opik is a guest on the first show that comes complete with the annoying camera angles and shots of a cameraman pointing a camera at the presenter/guest you see on Breaking the Set.

I didn't realise the UK opt of RT International now has two shows for the British market. Sputnik with George Galloway which is co-presented by his wife airs every weekend in addition to Going Underground.

Going Underground has three editions per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Hmm, with all this attention being focused on UK programming, what is the likelihood that RT will eventually launch a fully fledged RT UK, rather like they launched RT America, with UK specific programming and news bulletins during UK primetime.

Depends if AJE when they move from Knightsbridge to The Shard decide to opt-out of the main feed during UK primetime which may persuade RT to add UK news bulletins.

I think RT would need to beef up it's resources in London first. Going Underground is presented from a multi-storey car park and I don't know where Galloway's show is coming from. RT's London bureau I think is shared with the Voice of Russia in Belgravia, where they have a fixed camera on the small newsroom. America is obviously a larger market, so a US centric version of RT will go down better in a country known for it's isolation news wise.

I've watched the US and Moscow version and personally I prefer the larger studio space they have at RT HQ, where as the US bulletins are fixed shot behind the desk affairs.

We already know Al Jazeera UK will launch, and probably launch in 2014, so I think the pressure is on RT, as the two are the only international news channels on Freeview, alongside the BBC News Channel and Sky News.

Possibly, but with Al Jazeera investing in London, I believe that RT will follow suit.

The trouble is, yes that studio in Moscow looks great, a huge studio with a lot of potential. But frankly, the way it is utilised, and the sheer amount of space that has no practical purpose in that studio, doesn't make me feel great about it.. The old studio was a lot smaller and frankly it looked a lot better. The studio for RT America's bulletins is quite small, but it is well utilised, a lot better than the Moscow studio is. The other studio, used for Breaking The Set, and The Big Picture, looks quite good, is bigger, and is well utilised as well. A bigger studio doesn't necessarily mean a better programme.
