I think it came down to the jobs she was posted to. There were some very powerful pieces from numerous riots and marches and people being affected by the DWP's benefit reforms, but in recent months, they'd send her to do the numerous Brit bashing pieces, such as the anti-homeless spikes in London.
Sara also mentioned on CNN that she was planning to leave RT and had discussed that with management, however this incident made her bring forward her resignation.

Amanpour's interview was a little uncomfortable and arrogant in its tone. However, there is no doubt that RT is pushing itself towards the abyss. It's previous approach was much like Al Jazeera. While it was run by the government, it managed to just about give itself a position of credibility by championing the untold stories that 'mainstream' media wasn't covering. With RT the cracks always appear during Russian-linked conflict. During the Georgian war a number of journos walked out in protest. Watching the recent Ukraine crisis unfold, the channel has lurched from vehemently anti-Ukraine to 'innocent bystander/observer'. Last night's reporting of the removal by rebels of victim's bodies was embarrassing to watch. The presenter might as well have said "Yeah, guys, we admit it. We've screwed up with this one, but hey, America is really bad too." I think we're witnessing the slow death of the Putin years and RT.

Firth started on RT straight from graduating.
RT tend to get young, impressionable Western journalists who are just starting out. They offer a salary which is much more than if they're getting a low key job on one of the UK or US news organisations for their age. Some of them take on the mantra quite literally, while those like Firth and earlier this year Liz Wahl realise after a while why they're being used as a tool of the Russian Government.
It works both ways, Firth gets five years of broadcasting experience on an international 'news' channel, while RT get a Westerner to sublimely pump out their agenda.
Couldn't agree more, a very good explanation/ breakdown of what presumably goes on at RT, Bic Basher.
I wouldn't class RT as a trusted network, for various reasons discussed in this thread. It's all well and good for them and others to produce news from a non western perspective, so to speak. But the reporting of the Ukraine crisis has been and is a shambles, no Impartiality at all towards the other views held by the 'other side' of the crisis. Al Jazeera is practically funded by the Quatari Government, but still offers an impartial news network, with no bias toward any government/ruling party. IMO.
Well and truly over these journalists taking advantage of such tragedies to improve their employment prospects. They willingly signed up to work for a foreign policy tool of the Russian Government, so the moral outrage is a bit rich. Not much chance of quietly resigning, either?

AJE also has it's bias issues, which are more subtle that RT's brazen pro Russian agenda. You'll find next to no coverage about Qatar and it's oppression. However, for the rest of the world and it's news coverage, AJE gives BBC World News decent competition, even if it's more conservative in tone than BBC World News is these days.
If you ever watch In the Now on RT at 7pm, the American presenter Anissa Naouai sounds in her delivery if she's brainwashed.
RT's editor-in-chief is only in her mid thirties and started in the job in her twenties, so there's also a lack of maturity at the top level making these editortial decisions on behalf of the Kremlin.

I'd hardly call one interview a 'tour'. Perhaps CNN approached her for the interview.
I wonder where she'll end up working next.
And why exactly did she needed to do tour of the world's press about said brought forward resignation? Just doesn't sit well with me.

When the heat is on Russia (and RT), the channel wheels out it's US/UK media bashing machine.

Although to be fair, the US/UK Media always has it set heroes and villains - hence why America can get away with bombing civilians, torture and droning hospitals and it goes unreported yet the minute anything vaguely connected to Russia happens the media starts pointing the blame at Putin even when there is little evidence. On Thursday when the news first came in both Sky and the BBC were already more than asking if the Russian Government was connected to this (although the probably are), it just goes to show there are set Media scripts for when something like this happens. The Western Media will criticise Russia and Russia will criticise the Western Media.
Set Narratives in news are seemingly all the rage right now - Israel/Gaza is a prime example of this.

^ Great post. This is what bothers me as well. Ok, yes, we get it, RT has a certain point of view through which it presents the news but it's the same on the other side. Russia arming rebel is a sin while when the US does the same in several other countries it's totally legitimate.
Even today, a day after the US officials said there's no proof of Russians directly being responsible, CNN is still banging on about it and showing a silly interview with some Ukrainian official saying a Russian "pressed the button".
Anyway, this should be here as well.
