I predicted that earlier
But it was kind of obvious - secound year running. ITV News picked up 4 major awards - James Mates announced at the end of the ITV News at 10:30.
- ITV Evening News, programme of the year.
- 2 for Big scoop, and a special?
- and also Matt Willis for young journalist
Sorry if incorrect details for the awards.

The RTS always give a reason for their decision, so will be interesting to see that.
As I said before, I actually don't think either of them deserved it. I think the BBC still has a heck of a lot to learn about originality and genuinely innovative thinking when it comes to 24 hour news, as it is hard to deny that they do try to take off a lot of what Sky come up with.
On the other hand, Sky over the past year or two has really been something of a disaster... the relaunch destroyed established presenting teams, and they have yet to recover from that. I can't think of a single pairing with a good dynamic at the moment. A shame, as that has always been what Sky has been about.

What exactly has Sky done to get NCOTY? Or is it just a sympathy vote? They've gone from bad to worse this year!
I can only think it's coz News 24 isn't truly a 24 hours a day news channel any more - it only actually broadcasts for 14 hours a day.

That makes these awards something of a joke.
Having said that, Sky News almost deserve the award just for having correspondents like Martin Brunt who break stories.
News 24 have the better phrase for their titles and sting though - "Britain's most watched news channel" - with the gap increasing even more soon once Sky News ceases FTA transmission on DTT.
