To be honest the RTS have made a bit of joke of themselves with their previous awards.
Personally, I don't think it holds much weight- but they really had no choice this year...to award it to Sky last year was a fairly astonishing decision; to do the same this year would be beyond a joke.
I do think the BBC are sloppy with their news , script wise, and often doesnt make sense, however they usualy put attention to detail on most things *cough graphics on BBC One News cough* however I do think N24 stands out from Sky . Great indepth reports, and they dont remind you of sports news or their active service every five seconds, unlike sky.

One of their problems it that there are too many RTS awards - there's the regional ones (which are essentially just carved up half and half between each regions BBC and ITV programmes), there's the news awards (tonight), the TV sports awards and the programme awards. It does rather devalue them
On a night when a caption generator wins a prize for 'innovation', I don't think we can take these awards seriously!
It wasn't the caption generator, and you know it wasn't. It was the idea of putting people's messages home on the ticker, which was a great idea and fantastic public service broadcasting.
A terrible evening for Sky though. Good job that News 24 hadn't poached JT or they'd have been left with just an award winning ticker!
I notice that News 24 have moved the BBC News logo in the titles up and put RTS News channel of the year underneath. I think it would have looked better ontop of the BBC News logo.
