Agreed. Totally well deserved. I certainly turn to SkyNews first over BBC for big stories especially for breaking stories.

I'm not sure either Sky News or the BBC News Channel are targeting the US market.

I wouldnt think they would be. Obviously.

Though SkyNews.com has a USA edition and they launched a live stream nationwide on ROKU and other streaming video systems and many cable systems carry BBC World.

BBC World News ≠ BBC News Channel

The point I was making was that the circumstances as to why an American viewer would choose Sky News over BBC News aren't necessarily relevant to to either of them.

Right... I think Bilky Asko was basically wondering how you would know which channel is better when they are both channels from this country and aimed at this country...

Even London can only really claim three recognisable structures on its skyline - BT Tower, the Shard and the Gerkin. Everything else is just a generic tall tower that could be anywhere in the world.

Well, Four really, Big Ben, ah hang on.....Five St Paul's..... Six, Tower Bridge, in fact.........

And the London Eye of course. Wembley Arch too I guess.

On the topic of the News Channel award though I do find it pretty pointless nowadays when it's basically a head to head between two channels who seemed to stop innovating years ago, arguably since the ITV News Channel closed.

So, apart from BT Tower, The Shard, The Gerkin, Big Ben, St Paul's, Tower Bridge, The London Eye, and the Wembley Arch, what is there distinctive about London's skyline ? Very Happy (I do accept 'dosxuk's' point however, that in general most British cities don't have anything really distinctive)

I am basically saying that you're hardly the typical viewer in a typical situation, so you choosing Sky News over BBC News isn't going to be representative of the audience.

Incidentally, won't you be choosing between Sky News and BBC World News, as opposed to the BBC News Channel? I'd choose a domestic UK channel for UK breaking news over a UK-based international channel.

LOL. I would KNOW because I have an opinion and its MY opinion that I prefer Sky over BBC News Channel. You might not LIKE my opinion but you have no place to censor my opinions or preferences.

Nobody is censoring you... Stop being so oversensitive. For the record, I also turn to Sky News rather than the NC frequently these days.

They definitely fall into the category of "if you know the city, you'll recognise them", no different to the "death tower" in Leeds, or the BT Tower in Birmingham. Otherwise they're just generic shipyard equipment like many other towns and cities have.

We just don't build upwards in the UK to make instantly identifiable skylines.
