Very surprised at the amount of people wanting CNN International to win Shocked
I think they've tried in recent years, but their shows and coverage isn't great.

I've never been a huge fan of CNN but their coverage of both the US elections and Haiti was very good (not that either was during the period covered by these awards of course). It's certainly the best channel to go to when something happens stateside

... and unlike Sky it had a whole army of anchors/reporters there.

You've got to remember, the US elections were only good on CNN International because most of the coverage was simualcasted from CNN Domestic. I don't think CNN International are terrible, but the constant ad breaks, some of the reports...just little things.

Al Jazeera English really have had a good few years though. Many exclusives, good coverage on certain international stories, a solid group of presenters, an easy to follow schedule, concise channel. I think it is much more slick. Not just in terms of presentation! Fair enough, AJE might not have the viewership in Europe as high as CNN International, but it still has very good, balanced reporting.

I find it interesting that the BBC News channel weren't nominated in the 'News channel of the Year' category. Are RTS telling them something. Wink

THAT was a joke in my opinion, can't fathom why they were overlooked.

That's irrelevant, if it's good coverage it's good coverage no matter where it originates from. Although as I say the election coverage won't be taken into account for the RTS awards

It's the first time apparently.

I suppose there is only space for 3 in the shortlist, one of them's got to be 4th!

And the BBC News Channel is still the most watched in the UK isn't it?

Worzel is probably trying to suggest that RTS are having a dig at the news channel for the barco screens, the blue in the background and the ticker having "hippy shakes" (whatever they are).

As far as I know... but when were award nominations based on ratings?

Anyone know where the results are published?

Even tomorrow it's normally difficult to find a full list of winners... the RTS website still has 2008/9's

There's at least 2 people tweeting from the awards, hopefully they'll tweet the results
