I dont see how the beeb can win on multimedia Laughing

I think News Channel of the year will go to BBC, or possible AJE, but certainly not sky. I actually think the single headed pres will have damaged their chances hugely, plus they cover such a narrow number of stories compared to the beeb.

News program of the year - the ten any day...

Presenter - perhaps Jon Snow (don't know Stewart White and Paxo's not done anything special last year)

Bound to be Sky News for NCOTY - their mole usually does his job!

Fantastic to see Stewart White nominated. He gets my vote.

No way should Sky get News Channel of the year, BBC News 24 has been much, much better this year. Ten should get programme of the year, Jon Snow for presenter. Innovation should probably go to Sky.com News as they have made a proper commitment to that, showing it 4 times a week. Scoop to BBC for Northern Rock and Martin Brunt or Nick Robinson for Specialist journalist.

Any idea what time they usually announce NCOTY?

Well it's due to start at 7.30pm, so I imagine it's one of the final awards of the night, so probably not till after 9pm.

Same night as the Brits - you'd think they'd avoid that clash, quite similar audiences I'd have thought. More drinking at the RTS though! Laughing

Thought I might actually constructively contribute to this thread now;

Camera Operator of the Year
Dai Baker - Channel 4 News ITN for Channel 4
Darren Conway - BBC News BBC News for BBC One
Garwen McLuckie Sky News
With a name like that she/he/it (not really great with names and genders) deserves to win, besides the 'Conways' of this world don't seem to have had the best of luck of late.

Innovation
Sky.com News Sky News
Your News - Five News BSkyB for Five
School Report BBC News / BBC News Interactive
Your News feels a bit more established to Sky's effort, so that is why that gets my vote.

News - International
Iraq: Apache Company - Channel 4 News ITN & Guardian Films for Channel 4
Undercover In Zimbabwe - Newsnight BBC for BBC Two
Afghanistan: Taliban Embed - Al Jazeera English News Hour Al Jazeera English
A thoroughly enjoyable series for those who watched it, and genuinely an Al Jazeera exclusive, something they deserve alot of credit for.

News Channel of the Year
Al Jazeera English
BBC News 24 BBC News for BBC News 24
Sky News
Gotta be Aljaz - or sky, but not Bore24. If sky win you'll all be treated to a complimentary todger-waving, so it's well worth sticking the Brits on and staying up tonight.

News Programme of the Year
Five News 1730 BSkyB for Five
Ten O'clock News BBC News for BBC One
ITV Evening News ITN for ITV News
Pretty good year for them, cemented a lead over NaT, go get 'em Huw!

Presenter of the Year
Jeremy Paxman - Newsnight BBC for BBC Two
Jon Snow - Channel 4 News ITN for Channel 4
Stewart White BBC Look East
Where has Paxo been this year?

Scoop of the Year The Hunt For Captain Nairac - Spotlight BBC Northern Ireland
MTAS: Security Breaches - Channel 4 News ITN for Channel 4
Northern Rock - BBC News BBC News for BBC News 24 & BBC One

Specialist Journalist
Martin Brunt Sky News
Martin Geissler - ITV News ITN for ITV1
Nick Robinson - BBC News BBC News for BBC One & BBC News 24
Martin Brunt deserves a statue-thing aswell - first with the goss and puts it all in perspective b-e-a-utifully.

Television Journalist of the Year
Alex Crawford Sky News
Emma Hurd Sky News
John Ray - ITV News ITN for ITV1
Alex has done more for sky this year than Emma has.

Young Journalist of the Year
Nima Elbagir - More4 News / Channel 4 News ITN for Channel 4/More4
Hamish Macdonald - Al Jazeera English News Hour Al Jazeera English
Haru Mutasa - Al Jazeera English News Hour Al Jazeera English
If you haven't seen this girl I suggest you do, all round fab girl and has done reports from most of Africa including Zimbabwe, Kenya, Chad, South Africa et al.

LAST YEAR THE NCOTY WAS ANNOUNCED JUST BEOFRE THE BREAK DURING SKY NEWS AT TEN

Is the Awards actually broadcast? If so, which channel? One is curious.

....To that, and who will be covering Julie Etchingham tonight on the NAT?

AlJazeera should easily win the NCOTY. Sky doesn't deserve it at all.
