At long last . Catriona Perry is back on RTÉ's 6.1 News. Although she is with Ray Kennedy in studio.

What a bizarre thing to say.

You do realise that she has been on maternity leave???

Caitriona was on Today with Maura and Daithi back in October to promote her book, so it seemed then that a gradual comeback was going to be soon.

Two ladies were newsreaders for Christmas Eve news bulletins for RTÉ News.

Karen Creed did the Six-One News.

Eibhlin Ni Choisdealbha, from Nuacht TG4, is currently doing the Nine O'Clock News at the moment.

I know it was a couple of weeks ago now but very sad to read the news of the passing of Keelin Shanley. A great journalist, gone too soon.

Doesn't rte2 deserve a news update after they scrapped news feed?

RTE 2 News I doubt will ever return as RTE faces huge budget cuts to all departments over the next 5 years. There is simply not the audience there to justify spending on news programming for RTE 2 other than News2Day.

If that even survives and isn't bumped to an online offer.

News2Day will survive as it comes under RTE's remit of home grown children's programming

So that's Ireland's equivalent of Newsround then?

Exactly, I’ve watched it quite good, giving the youth news and current affairs

It is yes, as RTE tend to copy the BBC in a lot of their programming
